Hon. Babajimi Benson, the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency and the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defense, is no doubt, the man of the people and the man of the moment. Since his emergence on the Ikorodu political scene in 2015, he has continued to enjoy tremendous popularity and goodwill which no politician in the division; dead or alive, has enjoyed before, courtesy of his unusual compassion for the wellbeing of the Ikorodu people. His remarkable legislative performance and massive developmental projects and programmes cut across the entire division, among which are his monthly food programme (Apo-Anu), street solar lighting, construction of roads, schools, health centres, mini-stadia and many others.
On Saturday, January 7, 2023, he officially flagged-off his campaign for re-election for a third term, at the Ferry Terminal, Ipakodo, Ikorodu. The political rally tagged, ‘Orange event, was attended by massive crowd which included major chieftains and members of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), notable personalities, his colleagues from the green chamber, members of his operational group, iCare Foundation and residents alike, most of whom were wearing orange T-shirts and Fez caps, as a show of support for the performing lawmaker.
The huge turnout at the event which also had the presence of the popular Fuji maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal on the band stand, dishing out songs to keep the gathering alive and cheering, coupled with the endorsement statements by several notable APC chieftains in Ikorodu division and Lagos State, is a proof that Hon. Benson’s re-election is a done deal.
