Scholar Bridge nursery/primary schools, Mowo-Kekere showcase talents, future leaders at maiden inter-house sports

To say that Scholar Bridge Nursery and Primary school located at Omo Kekere, off Ijede Road is one of the best schools in this division is not an exaggeration.

Sited in a serene and exclusive area of Mowokekere some years ago, it is now a preferred place of learning for young people hence the high population density pupils in that school also propelled by the quality education being provided in that environment.

On March 25, 2017 the school threw its fates and doors wide open as it hosted its maiden inter-house sports competition which attracted a huge crowd from near and afar.

The school authorities invited not only dignitaries, community leaders and parents of the pupils but also invited sister institutions to be part of the befitting exercise.

Seeing he kids of this school who spoke impeccable English and phonetically too, any parent would be convinced that of the good quality of education the school was providing.

The sports fiesta which was scheduled for 10am did not commence until 12 noon, it began with a march past, national anthem and a welcome address.

The colourful march past involved the four houses of the school namely – The Blue House whose patron is Hon. Jimi Benson, the Green House with Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade as patron. The Purple House has Sir David Sunmoni (former Accountant General of Lagos State) as the patron while Yellow House has Ramotu as patron.

During the competition proper, the pupil engaged in various track vents notably twenty five (25) meters race boys and girls 50 meters boys and girls, 75 meters boys and girls, 100 meters boys and girls, 4x4x100 meters relay boys and girls.

Other events competed for include piking the ball (boys and girls), filling the bottle (boys and girls) building the Temple, targeting, catching the Train, going to school, threading the needle. At the end of the program various winners emerged and were celebrated like heroes and heroines.

The Publisher of Oriwu Sun Newspaper, Chief Monzor Olowosago who chaired the event gave a hilarious speech as he congratulated the contestants, the parents and teachers of the school for the well-organized event.

He urged parents to continue to hold fast to the belief that education is the best and greatest legacy they can leave for their children.

He told the audience that he (Monzor) succeeded in life not because of the wealth his late father left behind for his children but because of the good education the parents gave him. He told them that his late father trained all his children as graduates hence all of them are doing well in life today. He urged parents to aspire to train their children to the highest levels those children could attain in education.

The Publisher challenged mothers to think first about educating the children, then their jobs before any other things especially those of them who worry about their husband having different wives and concubines. He advised the pupils to take their studies seriously at this early stage since that should be their only preoccupation now.

Turning to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as the management teacher and staff of the school, he praised them for their efforts and their achievements not only in the physical development of the school but the evidence of good education hey are imparting upon the children. He commended them for the wonderful organization of the event and the outstanding performances of the competition.

Earlier, the Head mistress of the school, Mrs. D.D. Aghedo said that this was the maiden competition which as being held at power line playground. It was bound to have mistakes, but she assured that the school will mend those short comings observed in subsequent editions. She was grateful to all who graced the occasion and thanked them for their support.

She commended the parents, teachers and pupils for their contribution to the event and showed praises on the B.o.T chairman, his wife and the chairman of the event, Chief Olowosago as well as other guests.

She did not forget to appreciate the mother of the day and other schools invited who added colour to the event.

Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were Mr. David Sunmoni, Otunba Adekunle, Ogunsanya ex CBN Senior Staff, Mr. Deen Sanwoola CEO of Fun City who represented Hon. Jimi Benson among others.
