Publisher embarks on classrooms project in support of Gov Ambode’s good governance in Lagos state

Teachers, staff and students of Federal Low Cost Estate Primary School in Ikorodu exploded with joy on Friday, March 17, 2017 as they mobbed  the Publisher of Oriwu Sun newspaper, Alhaji (Chief) Monzor Olowosago who came to flag off a block of classrooms he is sponsoring for the school.

Chief Olowosago who had stepped into the school premises without fanfare hoping to lay the foundation stone of the project unannounced, was besieged by singing and dancing students and teachers who were overjoyed by the Publisher’s intervention to improve facilities in the school.

About twenty two (22) teachers of the school, their pupils, the Executive Secretary of State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) Ikorodu, Mr. Taiwo Oduloye and others, had laid “ambush” for Olowosago to exalt and appreciate him.

Surprisingly, the school community appeared in Ankara aso-ebi as if it was an organized reception ceremony. They and the inspecting site engineers from SUBEB led by Engr. Ogunnowo were happy about the project and did not hide their feelings.

It will be recalled that last year, teachers and students of the school located inside the Federal Low Cost Housing Estate where the corporate headquarters of Oriwu Sun is (along Itoikin- Ijebu Ode road), led by the Head teacher Mrs. F.O. Bolarinwa and her deputy, Mrs. Olawale V.O. had written a letter to the publisher of Oriwu Sun on the deplorable state of their school buildings especially their classrooms and toilets which had been in bad shape for more than five (5) years.

When Chief Monzor visited the school to see things for himself, he was highly agitated and immediately promised not to rehabilitate a structure as requested by the school authorities but to construct a new block of classrooms with toilets, office and other infrastructure.

As a meticulous planner, the publisher instantly decided that the gesture will be a way of showing support for Ambode’s good governance in the state; hence, he hunted the Governor during one of their meetings and canvassed for government assistance to the school.

Governor Ambode promised in return not only to support Olowosago’s, initiative but also to help the school directly. Thus, the 2017 budget includes provision for a modern school building to be built by the state government. The project is expected to kick off soon.

At the Estate premises on March 17, 2017 it was joy, appreciation and prayer galore for Oriwu Sun Publisher as the head teacher, The SUBEB Executive Secretary Mr. Taiwo Oduloye and others fervently prayed for long life, good health and more prosperity for the publisher to enable him continue to do good for the society.

Chief Monzor told the audience that he is investing in this school project in appreciation of the good work Ambode is doing across the state which should be reciprocated and complemented by patriotic citizens and residents of the state.

It will be recalled that Chief Monzor in response to corporate social responsibility has built a toilet facility for Sagamu Road Police Station a mini mosque Ikorodu NASFAT at Akasoleri in Ikorodu, a nursery and primary school also for Ikorodu NASFAT at Akasolori before this venture into public school development.

It is hoped that as a liberal Nigerian, Olowosago he will also build a Christian church someday in Ikorodu to the glory of the Almighty God.
