Our views on new palace extension

Kabiyesi has been able to achieve the erection of a monumental edifice within two years, which was built with the resources of the people of Ikorodu to the tune of about two hundred and fifty million naira (N250million). Because our Oba is a great inspiration to his subjects and a huge achiever, he had inspired his people to contribute money to provide this beautiful palace extension, a heritage of the people of Ikorodu.

SENATOR GBENGA ASHAFA:

I am here to felicitate with Oba Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the entire people of Ikorodu on the third year coronation anniversary and the commissioning of the new palace extension. The Ayangburen has been a lovable traditional ruler and his reign in the last three years has witnessed modern infrastructural development. The collaboration he had to build this newly commissioned edifice for Ikorodu is highly commendable. I want to use this opportunity to thank our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ambode and the entire people of Ikorodu for giving Kabiyesi the necessary supports.

OTUNBA STEVE ANIFOWOSHE:

I am very happy for HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi on this occasion of his third year anniversary on the throne and the commissioning of the new palace extension. He is a very friendly person and hardworking too. He loves his people and they are very supportive of his reign. When he ascended the throne, one of his first priorities was to build a new palace and he worked hard towards it. Today, it is a reality. I appeal to indigenes and non-indigenes, who are residents of this town, to contribute their quota towards the development of the town.

MR LANRE ALEBIOSU, SHOTOBI’S AMERICAN FRIEND:

I congratulate the people of Ikorodu. Oba Shotobi is a wonderful person and has all the characteristics one needs in a king. He is a good choice for Ikorodu people. What I see here today is a display of the Yoruba culture and Nigerian culture. Oba Shotobi schooled in America and he is experienced, exposed, well-educated, respected and a man of dignity and honour. He will take Ikorodu to the international communities. My advice to the people of Ikorodu, especially the youth, is to emulate people like Kabiyesi, who started from a very humble beginning and made it to the throne. The little children and the youth can be anything they want to be if they are honest hardworking, dedicated and disciplined in life.

OBA AJIBADE AGORO, RANODU OF IMOTA:

Going by the wonders he did in three years, Oba Shotobi is a round peg in a round hole. The Palace foundation was laid two years ago and today it is being commissioned. I am happy and excited to witness this occasion and I wish him more years on the throne.

ALHAJA TAOFIKAT ALLISON, IYALOJA GENERAL, IKORODU DIVISION:

We thank God for this day and for helping our Kabiyesi, Oba Shotobi to achieve this great feat of providing a beautiful new palace extension for Ikorodu kingdom on the occasion of his third year coronation anniversary. On behalf of all market men and women in Ikorodu division, I wish him many years on the throne and also assuring him of our support in this division.

PATRICK NWABUISI, CHAIRMAN, BLOCK B, SABO AYANGBUREN MARKET, IKORODU:

His Royal Majesty, (HRM) Oba Shotobi, is a very accommodating and listening King, who promotes peaceful co-existence among his subjects. He has been of great support to non-indigenes of this town. I also appreciate Olori Kudirat Shotobi for recognizing and inviting us for this celebration. We, the Ibos, are strongly in support of the reign of the Kabiyesi. We pray that God would give him the grace to celebrate many years on the throne.

OTUNBA AKINOLA AWOMODU:

Oba Shotobi is worthy of the encomium being showered on him because of the feat he achieved within a little space of time. He is a futuristic person and a visionary leader, who knows what his subjects want and ensures that it is provided. His reign has ended the insecurity challenges in Ikorodu with the assistance of the Lagos State Government.

CHIEF MUFTAU JIMOH ODUSOGA, CHAIRMAN, COUNCIL OF BAALES, IKORODU DISTRICT:

Oba Shotobi is a blessing to Ikorodu Kingdom going by the infrastructural development taking place in the kingdom. His experience as the former Odofin of Ikorodu has continued to shape his steps. He is a person, whose interpersonal relationship is worthy of emulation. Within three years of his reign, much development has taken place and security of lives and property are now guaranteed. I must commend him for building this beautiful new palace extension for Ikorodu kingdom. It shows that he is a man of integrity, whose subjects would continue to trust. I encourage everyone to support him to take Ikorodu to a greater height.

OBA ORIMADEGUN KASALI, ADEBORUWA OF IGBOGBO:

I congratulate the Ayangburen on his third year coronation anniversary. He has done wonderfully well and there has been a tremendous change in the standard of living of Ikorodu people. I want to appreciate him for a lot of development in the division. The palace extension was his initiative. We want to commend him and wish him more successful endeavours and long reign on the throne. I advise the people of Ikorodu to continue to support him so that more feats can be achieved.

HONOURABLE S.O.B AGUNBIADE:

I feel passionate about the completion and commissioning of the palace extension within a space of three years. It is a monument that talks about the people of Ikorodu. It is qualified to be a tourist attraction due to the sculptural and pictorial representation of Ikorodu traditional institution fixed on it. Oba Shotobi is a good mobilizer and was able to mobilize the people to contribute resources and build this for the kingdom. The success of this project shows that he is loved by his people and trusted by them. It is a property that belongs to the people of Ikorodu. Therefore, our Kabiyesi is a man of honour and dignity. I pray that God would grant him long life and prosperity on the throne.

CHIEF (DR) KAYODE BAWA-ALLAH:

This extension is initiated by Oba Shotobi to the earlier palace built by the Lagos State government. This is because we discovered a gap in the former and the latter was built within two years through Ikorodu peoples’ cooperation with their monarch. That shows the communal cooperation of Ikorodu people, which is part of our culture. We go out to identify what we need and support the realization of those needs. I think that is why we are known as “Ikorodu Oga.” I commend Oba Shotobi for this wonderful initiative and wish him long reign on the throne.
