Like wild lions released from a cage, wife of the late Baba Adinni of Ikorodu Central Mosque, Alhaja Laide Alogba and her five children ferociously attacked about five hundred (500) members of Ikorodu NASFAT on Sunday September 23, 2018, as they went to late Alogba’s estate on a peaceful protest march.
Alhaja Laide was shouting from atop a building and barking like a wild dog while her children physically assaulted some members of NASFAT, notably the chairman of the Council of Elders, Alhaji (Chief) Monzor Olowosago and others.
It will be recalled that shortly after the death of Alhaji (Chief) Musedik Alogba, Chairman/CEO Construction One and Baba Adinni of Ikorodu Central Mosque, a big dispute arose among the sixteen (16) children of the late Chartered Account and his wives on who will control the vast estate of the late Baba Adinni.
Some of the children contested the WILL their father left behind while some went to court on the man’s properties.
Later on, the family settled the matter out of court. They also agreed to a meeting with NASFAT officials on the takeover of the compound which the late Alogba had willed to NASFAT for their educational project. But somehow, the children still resisted attempt by NASFAT to take over.
Through wise consultations and diplomacy by the Council of Elders of NASFAT, it was agreed with the Alogba’s family to give out a portion of the land measuring some plots to the children out of the compound willed to NASFAT by Chief Alogba.
These Alogba children benefitted from this gesture selling the land at between N5million and N10million naira per plot on their own.
The bulk of the late Alogba family, by this gesture/arrangement left the compound and embraced peace. Unfortunately, as NASFAT decided to erect a sign board of takeover of the place, one of the wives of the late Baba Adinni, Alhaja Laide and her children, resisted the move.
One of the children of Alhaja Laide by name Tope (an Eleha) who had been using the compound for her school project, frustrated the NASFAT desire. She refused to allow the erection of the sign post in the compound.
But because NASFAT is a peaceful body, the Ikorodu leadership decided to alert the National/International Headquarters of NASFAT on the latest development. After consultations, a letter was written to Ikorodu NASFAT to take over the estate.
Shortly after the 2018 Ramadan Fast, a delegation of NASFAT Exco approached Alhaja Laide Alogba to implore her to move out of the compound peacefully since other members of the big Alogba family had left to the various properties and apartments the late Alogba provided for them in the will. But Alhaja Laide and her daughter, Tope, insisted they should be given one year and half before they will move out of the premises.
The NASFAT delegation went home for another round of consultation after which it was decided that members of the organization will stage a peaceful march to the property to drum home the seriousness to execute the WILL of the late Baba Adinni.
As one member of NASFAT tried to mount a sign post of the organization, Tope and her brothers attacked the NASFAT members while also raining insults, vituperation on Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, head of the Council of Elders, and attacking physically members they could reach.
Their mother, Alhaja Laide, from the balcony of the late Alogba’s main house, barked like a possessed dog at the NASFAT members.
The melee lasted for more than one hour and soon degenerated to a free for all until the first son of the late Alogba, Labi arrived the scene and pleaded with NASFAT officials and members for calm while pledging to intervene and peacefully asked Alhaja Laide and her children to move inside the house.
All along, Alhaja Laide targeted Monzor for her insults while the children vented their anger on the NASFAT members.
Luckily, there was no blood shed and no injuries were recorded in the clash before Alogba’s first son, Labi and other elders from that family came to calm the situation. Thereafter, the NASFAT members left the place.
Some of the other children of Alogba who spoke to Oriwu Sun on the matter wondered why Alhaja Laide and her children would be adamant about exiting the compound when their late father provided her with a house in Ikeja and an apartment in one of the estates apart from other benefits as well as her children.
One of the children said that Laide even sold a big portion of land within the Asalatu mosque premises, in Agric area for her personal pocket while her children benefitted from the land given by NASFAT inside the Alogba main compound which they sold between five and ten million per plot.
One bystander who watched the Sunday brouhaha described Alhaja Laide as a selfish and greedy person who is thinking about 2021 when no one is sure of living till tomorrow.
A member of NASFAT wondered why a woman and her children, who have occupied the willed out compound for over seven years whereas the WILL stated that they should leave six months after the Baba Adinni’s death, should not peacefully vacate the premises while many are asking question how people, who claim to be very religion, will not obey the law of equity, justice and good conscience.
Meanwhile, NASFAT officials are appealing to concerned citizens, elders and traditional authorities, including Obas, to look into this matter and call Alhaji Laide and her children to order for flouting not only the laws of the country on Wills and traditional settlements but also for violating peaceful co-existence in the kingdom.
