Jimi Benson’s unrepentant demonstration of love for people’s welfare, again lays foundation for 80-bed space hospital in Imota

Although, Hon. Babajimi Benson, the representative of the lkorodu Constituency in Federal House of Representatives, Abuja, is not God, but definitely and beyond any reasonable doubt, he is more than a representative and politician. He is a modern day political philanthropist who possesses godly nature as evident in his constant and unrepentant demonstration of love for his people’s welfare.
Apart from his primary duty of making laws, the young, vibrant and well-loved lawmaker has taken it upon himself, since his election in 2015, to provide succour for his people by embarking and facilitating various people oriented projects, which cut across education, health, road construction, welfare, empowerment and other areas, a gesture which has ranked him ahead of his predecessors and also earned him accolades, commendations and love from traditional rulers, major stakeholders and the people across lkorodu division, who are now seeing him as a potential future governor of Lagos State.

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Hon. Benson, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, extended his unusual developmental gesture to Imota in Imota Local Council Development Area, where he laid the foundation for the construction of an 80-bed space Mother and Child Healthcare facility for the use of the people in the town and nearby communities.
The facilitation of the medical facility was indeed a big relief to the lmota community, which has no public health facility while its residents face challenges in accessing public medical services as they travel as far as ljede and lkorodu to access such despite that some plots of land had been acquired 48 years ago by the government for the purpose of constructing a befitting medical centre in the ancient town but to no avail.
According to the report gathered, the 80-bed health facility, which is located behind the Imota LCDA Secretariat, would be fully equipped with modern medical facilities upon completion while the construction duration is 4 months.
The medical facility is the third to be facilitated by Hon. Benson in lkorodu division following the two Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) he earlier facilitated and commissioned the same in Agbele and Ibeshe in Ikorodu Local Government and Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA respectively.
The medical centres are part of the lawmaker’s efforts to end preventable maternal, newborn and child deaths and improve health and wellbeing of the people of lkorodu Federal Constituency.
Meanwhile, Oba Ajibade Agoro, speaking at his palace, where Hon. Benson and members of his entourage were first hosted before heading to the site of the medical facility, commended the lawmaker for achieving fame through quality representation.
The royal father fervently prayed for the two – term lawmaker for continuous progression and also thanked him for facilitating the medical facility for Imota.
“You have been making use of the advice that I gave you in this palace the first time that I met you and that has been helping you greatly”, Oba Agoro said.
“I always say that politics is all about fame and fortune but a good politician must seek fame first before fortune. If you achieve fame, fortune will definitely find you.
“In your own case, you have sought fame and you are now famous because of your laudable programmes and quality representation”, the royal father added.

“For facilitating this for Imota and putting smiles on our faces, fortune shall never depart you. This facility, when completed, will be a big relief for the people of our community who have been clamouring for a standard medical facility.
“You deserve another term as the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Abuja and you also deserve to be a governor. But first, you must go for another term as our representative because we have never had it so good”.
Oba Agoro recalled that the land was acquired in 1972 for the purpose of constructing medical facility in Imota but that the promise was not fulfilled until now that Hon. Benson is facilitating the medical

Hon. Benson, while speaking briefly at the event, said that it gladdens his heart to bring relief to the residents of lmota who, according to him, have been facing challenges in accessing medical care.

Benson and also danced with him while other guests and residents joined in dancing and rejoicing.
The duo of Hon. Benson and Oba Agoro, with the support of other guests, later performed the foundation laying to officially flag off the commencement of the construction of the medical facility.
