IMCA celebrates Eid Kabir with Oba Shotobi

The Ikorodu Muslim Community Association (IMCA) on Saturday, September 9, 2016 celebrated another Ojude Oba festival to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) festival.
During the event, which took place at the Ayangbure Palace pavilion, the association kicked off its bursary award for students of Ikorodu to support developmental programmes of Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi and to commemorate his first year on the throne.
While speaking at the event, the IMCA coordinator, Chief Imam Jamiu Olusola AbdulHakeem said that this year’s event was the 17th edition of the Ojude Oba festival since the foundation of the IMCA. He commended Oba Shotobi on behalf of all the Islamic organisations under the association stating that he was making progress steadily. The association while stating its support for the monarch, promised to make the event an elaborate one next year in appreciation of the various achievements of the king since assumption of office.
In his response, Oba Shotobi commended the association for their supports and urged them to continue to support him on the developmental projects in Ikorodu division. According to him, he would have loved to celebrate the event elaborately this year but the palace extension project had prevented him from doing so.
The King prayed that next year when the project would be completed, the event would be made an elaborate one. He said that the building under construction belonged to Ikorodu and not himself or the members of his family. He urged the large gathering of muslim faithful to continue to maintain law and order and also support Governor Ambode’s government.
After the Bursary had been awarded to four nominated pupils from different primary schools in Ikorodu and prayers had been offered for Oba Shotobi, his royal families, Ikorodu division and Lagos State in general, the programme was brought to a memorable close.
