For the three years, His Royal Majesty Oba Kabiru Shotobi has been on the throne he has demonstrated great love for his kingdom and unparalleled passion for Ikorodu’s development.
Everything about him is channeled towards making Ikorodu bigger, better and beautiful. He was rich before he ascended the throne and has used his wealth to invest in the community.
Every time he tries to do the impossible, which is to please everyone, sometimes forgetting that God himself 
has not pleased everyone, talk less of the imperfect man He created.
In the past two years, the Kabiyesi celebrated his anniversaries on a modest scale but this year he upped the game. Some say it was because of the ultra-beautiful palace extension he built, while others think it is because his godfather in the United States of America, Dr. Bob Brown agreed to honour the anniversary.
Yet some believed that the plan to bring both Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the Palace commissioning ceremony meant that the scale of the celebration will be beefed up.
The result was that Ikorodu bubbled for eight days with dazzling activities. Only God knows how much the anniversary gulped in terms of costs. Eventually, Dr. Brown and his wife were present, while Asiwaju Tinubu and Governor Ambode sent representatives to the anniversary programmes.
Oba Shotobi gave Dr. Brown the type of reception he and his entourage got in North Carolina, United States of America (USA) few years ago when Dr. Brown hosted them for weeks. The Kabiyesi took his godfather to various activities of the anniversary including Oriwu club where he is a life patron.
The Publisher of Oriwu Sun, Chief Monzor Olowosago who would have been part of this anniversary but was unavoidably absent.
