First Gate landlords, residents want Ambode’s intervention on bad road

The residents of First Gate, Ikorodu, are grieving under the dilapidated condition of the roads in their community, which had made their going in and out a daily nightmare. They are, therefore, calling on the state government to intervene urgently.

Accordingly to one of the landlords, Mr. Olusegun Odeyemi, who spoke to Oriwu Sun, the condition of the road had become so worse that the residents and motorists that several residents have moved out of the community. In his view, lack of well-constructed drainages contributed largely to the collapse of the road.

Odeyemi further disclosed that being someone, who depended on his rent for survival, the bad condition of the road had adversely affected him as most tenants have moved out of the area. Thus, he called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to find a solution to their plight before the road collapses completely.

Mr. Ojo Olubiyi Dayo, a commercial cyclist, who plies the road daily, said the cost of maintaining his motorcycle had increased tremendously due to the bad road. Like other residents, he called on the state government to come to their rescue because very soon, he might lose his only means of livelihood.

Another motorcyclist, Mr. Akande Saheed, said the state of the road had affected his business negatively as most of the profits he made were spent to repair the damages on his bike. He called on all relevant stakeholders, including all arms of government – Federal, State and Local Government to liaise and rehabilitate the roads.

A trader in the area, Mrs. Tolulope Seyi, equally bemoaned the bad condition of the road, which had made her lose customers. She appealed to Governor Ambode to urgently repair the road.  Gboyega Kareem, also a resident, said several petitions had been written to Governor Ambode concerning the road but none had been acknowledged. He urged the Governor to urgently intervene and save the situation.
