Biodun Ogunleye facilitates facelift of neglected Solomade road

Prince Biodun Ogunleye, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State has been in politics for more than forty (40) years. Ever since, he has been doing his utmost best to contribute to the development of Ikorodu division.

That contributions may not be easily remembered by the Ikorodu people, except perhaps the intellectuals. However, what he did recently to the residents of Solomade Street would forever be remembered by all his neighbours in Solomade, where he lives.

Last December, through his influence with the Governor, who directed the engineers in the state’s Public Works to do massive reconstruction on the road, the road was being expanded to about three lanes.

For a long time to come, the people living along that axis would be immensely grateful to the former Deputy Governor just like the residents of Gbasemo area in Aga, Ikorodu, would not forget easily the former Commissioner for Rural Development in Lagos State, Prince Lanre Balogun, who throughout his tenure, rehabilitated and reconstructed more than fifteen roads along that axis that lead to Ebute-Igbogbo road.

Prince Ogunleye has tried his best. It is now left for the people to beg the Governor to complete the road by building a bridge that would link it to Ebute-Ipakodo.

What Ogunleye did is a lesson to our politicians that it is not enough to buy rice, Okada, sewing machines, grinding machines, bags of rice, etc, for our people but to bring infrastructural development to the town. This would make the entire community to remember them and not just a segment of the people who are politicians.

We give kudos to the former Deputy Governor even though he is having grudges with our paper, history would not easily forget him for bringing development to Solomade area. Before now, if you ask people what he did for Ikorodu previously, nobody would remember.

Oriwu Sun went out to speak to the residents including the engineer of public works and these are their reactions.
