At last council secretariat moves to lagos road…gives way for investors to take over

At last the chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, and his entire council staff members, have decided to move the Beach Road/TOS Benson road secretariat to a temporary site along Lagos road in Ikorodu after what seemed to be some foot dragging.

It was believed that the local government authorities had been insisting on getting a lump sum of money from the Lagos State government for purchase of new furniture and other office equipment before they can relocate to the temporary site.

However, we learnt from sources that this request was turned down. Sources close to the seat of State Government at Alausa told Oriwu Sun that it was true that this request was made by Ikorodu local government but that the state government turned it down and rather advised the council to use its present furniture and equipment until when the council eventually moves to a new permanent site speculated to be around Ita-Elewa.

Oriwu Sun contacted the council boss, Hon Adesina who explained that the delay in moving to Lagos road was for logistic reasons. He did not give details of the logistics except that the council had completed the waiting and was now prepared to move to the temporary site.

Officials of the council confirmed to Oriwu Sun that they had been adequately informed of the movement and that the partitioning of the offices was almost completed for them to move in.

Also, the Skye Bank branch located at the Beach Road secretariat confirmed that they too were making arrangements to relocate and make way for the investors who have been waiting anxiously to take over that huge land area.

It would be recalled that Oriwu Sun published in its February 2018 edition that the state government had paid two landlords, huge sum of money running into millions, for the two building complexes to house the council temporarily.

The state government paid rent advance for two years having leased out the Beach road secretariat land to investors hungry for massive development of the area.
