Readers would recall that last month we reported about a serial rapist named Badoo, who was almost lynched but for the intervention of the Oba of Ibeshe, HRM Richard Ogunsanya, who handed him over to the police.
Unknown to many, Badoo was not the only rapist in Ibeshe community; four notorious others exist. However, luck again, ran against another one when he was apprehended by people who heard the cry of a victim before they came to help.
According to eye witnesses, the suspect was captured by the people of the community, who burnt him before the arrival of the police. The people resorted to jungle justice, according to sources because they feared the police might release the culprit after being bribed, like in the case of another serial rapist, Badoo, who was handed over to them but released afterwards.
Recalling the exploits of Badoo, it was learnt that for two years that the raping spree was going on, he instilled fear into the females in the areasuch that many moved out of their houses.
And more recently, Badoo killed a woman while attempting to rape her, and this infuriated the women in the community, who all trooped out to denounce this evil act.
Following such atrocities, according to the source, the joint community development association of the area took several preventive actions, which led to the arrest of another serial rapist, who succeeded in raping an eight year old girl.
It was learnt that the girl’s jaw was broken in the process and she has been admitted at the Igbobi General Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
Efforts by the joint Community Development Association is still on -going as it was gathered that they raised ten thousand naira (N10,000) for security and mobilization for a peaceful protest, which was staged at Alausa, Ikeja, on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, where they marched to the Governor’s office and the House of Assembly.
The response of the Governor concerning the protest is still being awaited by the people of the community.
In a related development, another five years old girl on Saturday July 23, 2016, became a victim of the dare devil serial rapist.
According to a source, the girl who was abducted from where she was sleeping with her siblings inside insecticide treated net in a white garment church during a prayer session was thrown through a fence and leapt upon by the rapist.
It was learnt that having been brutalized seriously and her left arm broken in the process, she was undergoing treatment and billed for surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching hospital Ikeja, having been suffering from visco-vaginal fistula as a result of the brutalization.
Such dastard behaviour has attracted the interest of a non-governmental organization (NGO) and they have handed the case over to a woman activist in charge of Mirabel Centre for Rape victims.
The people of the community who have been protesting such bizzare occurrences are awaiting the response of the state government.
The last has not been heard concerning the serial rapist at Owode Ibeshe, Ikorodu, named Badoo. A source, who did not want his name in print disclosed to Oriwu Sun that a hapless woman was raped again at Ibeshe on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 after being hit with the back of an axe frontally leaving her seriously injured.
According to the source, she fainted and was not attended to until day break when some tenants and members of Joint Community Development Area (JCDA) rushed her to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, where she was given first aid and referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The doctors, who examined her, it was learnt, recommended her for an operation on Friday August 12, 2016 stating that the axe had a great impact on her head.
The woman who lives at Ilaje was attacked between 1:00am and 4:00am on that fateful day when she was found alone as her husband had gone out. She became a victim after the rapist had operated in five other houses without success.
Meanwhile, members of the Joint Community development Area (JCDA) has vowed to step up security around the hideouts of the ritual rapist.
