Ultra modern cinema for Badagry…

The historical community, Badagry, which is the western gateway to Lagos State, lived up to its billing as a tourism destination when it produced the largest crowd ever in this year’s edition of the One Lagos Fiesta.

At Badagry Secondary School premises, venue of the fiesta, the walls, fences, and buildings in the school premises were almost bursting with people, who swarmed the venue to welcome Governor Ambode, his entourage, and various musical idols.

Our correspondent at the venue described the scene as electrifying. Young people trooped out as if they had been starved of fun, entertainment and good life for a very long time as a result of the recession in the country. It was more than a carnival and a festival as there were bombardments from different angles – musical, crowd and refreshments. All the stands – the eateries, drinking bars, suya spots, etc. sold out their commodities.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2016, Governor Ambode, accompanied by his entourage, made a festive visit to the historically rich town of Badagry. When he mounted the stage to deliver his speech, he did not hide his amazement at the number of residents present. In appreciation, therefore, he promised the residents of a huge upgrade in their entertainment sector by erecting an ultra-modern cinema in the town in the next few months. The Governor’s visit was one of many others he paid to the different locations, where the country’s largest crossover celebration was taking place simultaneously.

According to Ambode, the resultant effect of the construction of the cinema would create employment opportunities for the youths while simultaneously boosting the tourism potential of the town, which is already blessed with abundant talents and tourism opportunities since inception. This inspiring revelation followed the Governor’s words of encouragement for young and aspiring entrepreneurs in the town. He urged them to take advantage of the employment Trust Fund made ready by the current state administration. The Governor also commended the crowd at the venue as he awarded it the largest so far in all the locations he visited. He ended his speech with an appeal to the crowd to cooperate with the security agencies on ground.

The celebration geared up with performances from CDQ, Mayokun, Jazzman Olofin, Oremo, Eedris Abdulkareem, Olu Maintain, Dammy Krane, Minjin, Konga and other traditional groups who all gave the crowd a memory to cherish forever.
