Where is Pamilerin Babatunde? This is the question on the lips of residents of Agboola Street in Lambo Lasunwon community, popularly called LASPOTECH first gate in Ikorodu.
The missing girl, who is the only child of her mother, Mrs. Fatimoh Adedokun, a middle aged amputee, who lives at No. 3 Agboola Street, was said to have been sent by her mother to plait her hair at a salon close to their house on Sunday, February 16, 2020, but did not get to her destination nor return home.
All efforts made by her mother, family members, neighbours and entire residents of Lambo Lasunwon community to search for Pamilerin were unsuccessful as at the time of writing this report.
Some residents were said to have mooted a case of kidnap as they were of the opinion that Pamilerin could not have gotten missing within the community because that was not the first day she would be sent to salon to plait her hair.
When Oriwu Sun reporters visited Pamilerin’s mother on Saturday, February 23, 2020, she said she was on her way back from the police station where, she had gone to get updates.
Few neighbours and residents who had come to sympathize with her were also present during our reporters’ visit.
While speaking with Oriwu Sun, Mrs. Adedokun narrated the sad experience of how her daughter got missing.
“I sent her to go and plait her hair on Sunday around 3pm at a nearby saloon and that was not the first time she would be going to the salon.
“But when I did not see her returning home in the evening, I became restless and immediately went to the salon, on getting there, I was told to my surprise that Pamilerin did not come to the place. This made us to start looking for her but till now, we have not found her and we have not gotten any information regarding her where about.
Mrs. Adedokun accused Pamilerin’s father whom she has divorced, of being her ordeal.
She alleged that her estranged husband has been threatening to forcefully to take custody of the missing girl but that she did not take his threat serious.
Mrs. Adedokun stated further that immediately the girl got missing, she reported him (Pamilerin’s father) at the police station and that he was consequently arrested and his house searched.
“I suspected her father in this case. We are no more together and he used to say that what will happen if he decides to come for her child, but I never stopped him from seeing her because she’s his daughter.
“But when the incident happened, I got him arrested and he has been behind bar since then while police efforts to get useful information from him regarding Pamilerin’s whereabouts have been unsuccessful.”
Meanwhile, some of the residents who spoke to Oriwu Sun expressed their shock over the incident and appealed to the state government, police and other well-meaning Nigerians to help in finding Pamilerin.
A resident of Lambo Lasunwon Area, who simply identified himself as Oluwatobi, said he was shocked when he heard that Pamilerin was missing.
He also claimed that Pamilerin’s case is not the first of such incident in the area.
