“Stop praying for me to become governor,” Abdul-lateef tells Imams, Ulamas

The Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, who doubles as Amirul Haj this year, and also the Chairman, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Hon. Abdullateef Abdulhakeem, has begged the Imams and the Ulamas to stop praying for him to become a Governor.

He dropped the bomb shell on Arafat day when all the Imams, Ulamaas and clerics, who were impressed about his performance during Haj 2016, prayed that he would continue to make progress in life and one day become the Lagos State Governor.

In his own response during a lecture, he asked them to stop praying for him to become the Governor. His words, “Please stop praying this kind of prayer because it is better to be a preacher than a Governor.

If I am a preacher, I could just go to Idumota at Afini’s place, get a microphone and start preaching. But if I am a Governor, I must take care of everybody in my care, and we all know how difficult that could be.”

“Our Governor, His Excellency, Akinwunmi Ambode, sometimes weep about the situation in Lagos State because he knows that he cannot satisfy all. While some people are praying for him, others are cursing him because as he is employing, he is also deploying,” he stated.

Amirul Haj also said that the kind of prayer he would need from people is that, “God should accept my service unto Him, and that none of my sheep should burn in the lake of fire. And that I should not burn in the lake of fire.”

“And because I have everything, God has blessed me. I have four wives and they all live under my roof and he blessed me in a way he would have blessed a man with four wives.”

Continuing, he said that when the Governor just assumed office, people were complaining that he was too slow and that he could not lead Lagos. By then, he was even working without a budget.

According to him, Governor Ambode was the only Governor he had seen, who would send a Commissioner to commission a project instead of himself in continuation, he said: “Some states are facing tough situations now but Lagos State is moving forward because we have a good Governor.

“The reason I am saying this is to let us know that God has blessed us as much as he blessed Saudi Arabia and he intentionally gave us Nigeria but we have destroyed it with our own hands.

On this final note, Amirul Haj had this to say, “There are some countries that when you go there, their weather is very cold while some places are very hot. Earthquakes are frequently happening in some countries but God has not allowed any of these to happening in our country. So, I implore you to give thanks to God for this wonderful opportunity he has given us.
