Serving Army General demolished Sabo market!

Facts have emerged that a serving Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army was the brain behind the demolition of more than 700 shops and 30 warehouses  in the popular Sabo market early in May this year which threw thousands of market men and women into great heartbreak and huge financial losses.

Investigations reveal that the Unknown Soldier behind that disastrous attack is an Abuja based Brigadier General who used a contractor to unleash the destruction.

Informed sourced told Oriwu Sun this Army General using a contractor as a front had initially bargained to build the new shops in Sabo at a lower price using a developer only to summersault to present another bidding that was higher in price in collusion with former Executing Secretary of Ikorodu local government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina. The higher rate was the one decided by the council under Hon. Wasiu Adesina.

Sources told Oriwu Sun that this was the reason for the nocturnal and clandestine use of army uniform, vehicle, and bulldozer all unmarked (unplated) and unidentifiable during the market demolition.

Though officials of the Lagos State government have visited the demolished market and are marking moves pointing to a possible  compensation of the traders affected, there seems to be no further action to unveil this masked man behind the demolition because according to the sources, he is a big and powerful man in the Army.

It was further revealed that after that massive demolition, the Army General through his agents wanted to destroy the remaining standing shops but stopped only because of the huge outcry and the intervention of some influential and concerned personalities who protested the unfortunate action.

Since these revelations were brought to the fore, many market men and women have been raining curses on the conspirators and all who had a hand in the demolition which has caused sudden death to some traders and untold hardship and losses to the entire business community in Ikorodu division.

The traders sworn that whatever money the perpetrators of this wicked act will get will turn into ashes in their months. They told Oriwu Sun that they are eagerly waiting for that treacherous contractor to start work in the market.

It is not yet clear if the traders have gone back to court to press for contempt of court and any restart of the building process after they obtained injunction months ago restreaming the Ikorodu council and its agents from hurting their interests which was ignored by the demolition action of May 2017.

Some market men and women told Oriwu Sun that they are watching and waiting for this particular contractor who with his army general brought untold hunger and hardship to the people.

Oriwu Sun will keep our readers informed on the developments in this market as everyone seems to be watching unfolding events with eyes wide open.
