Rousing welcome, as massive crowd, family members celebrate Oba Semiudeen Kasali out of Ipebi

      It was yet another round of glorious celebrations in Igbogbo town in Igbogbo/Bayeiku Local Council Development Area on Thursday, September 22, 2016, as the new Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade I, left Ipebi (place of isolation) to a rousing welcome by his family, well-wishers and entire residents of Igbogbo community.
Oba Kasali had on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 entered Ipebi, a day after receiving his staff of office and instrument of appointment from the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, to begin three months of isolation, during which he was expected to go through both traditional and cultural training and also perform several rituals and offer sacrifices to appease the gods of the land and his ancestors for a successful reign.
In the early hours of that Thursday, the new Adeboruwa came out of Ipebi to a rousing welcome by a massive crowd, which included his family members, traditional Chiefs, friends, well-wishers and other eminent dignitaries, who had

all kept vigil at the premises of the Ipebi as early as 6:30a.m on that day. Though, that day’s events, which were strictly traditional, were closed to media coverage, Oriwu Sun gathered that after leaving Ipebi, Oba Kasali immediately headed for Iledi Osugbo Abalaye, where he was traditionally crowned with the original “Ide Crown” and from there, he moved to the Adeboruwa palace, where he mounted the throne of his ancestors and where he would be taking total control of the palace and the entire Igbogbo kingdom.
In the evening of the same day, a vigil was conducted right inside the palace late in the night, where the new Adeboruwa lightens the Eru. According to the information gathered, three calabashes were placed in front of Oba Kasali and he was asked to pick one and fortunately, he picked the honey Calabash, which signifies that his reign will be peaceful and fruitful. Later that same day, the new monarch was accompanied by the kingmakers to pay homage to other ruling houses and important shrines in Igbogbo. Among places visited were Orisa oja, Ijaolu family and tombs of other past Obas who have reigned in Igbogbo.
On Saturday, September 24, 2015, two days after the monarch had left Ipebi and was traditionally coronated as Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, another memorable event known as Ita was held as part of the activities marking the traditional coronation of the new Adeboruwa.
The event was a gathering for Oba Kasali and his family to show appreciation and happiness to the community and for the people to know their new king; it is also a period where both the kabiesi and his family members would dance tirelessly to entertain and show appreciation to residents of Igbogbo community and visitors, who came to felicitate with them.
Later on that day, Oba Kasali hosted the Chiefs at his palace, where they dined and wined together as part of the traditional rites for the coronation ceremony of a new Adeboruwa. Several other events were lined up to mark the traditional coronation ceremony of the new Adeboruwa and the celebration will climax on November 26, 2016 with grand finale event that will seal the coronation activities.
