When Governor Ambode appointed Prince Rotimi Ogunleye as Commissioner from Ikorodu, nobody knew that he was going to put him in the Commerce and Industry Ministry.
However, perhaps, the intelligent Governor looked at his C.V and decided to put a round peg in a round hole.
In the first place, Ogunleye is not only a brilliant lawyer with flourishing Chamber but he has equally edited the prestigious Business Times, a conglomerate of the Daily Times.
Not only that, he also has a first degree in English language. No wonder when Prince Ogunleye together with the permanent secretary also a lawyer and a seasoned administrator from Epe, Mr. Akodu organized the 5th Lagos Corporate Assembly, it was a resounding success.
Though, this newspaper did not cover the previous event but those who witnessed it told us that it was not as befitting as this. Kudos must be given to the Hon. Commissioner, permanent secretaries, directors and staff of the ministry, who right from the inception of the programme did a great job.
The programme started by 9:00a.m and there was cocktail/breakfast for more than five hundred guests. Though, we didn’t know the name of the caterers but they provided a befitting breakfast cocktail that reflects the grand occasion.
Another observation of this reporter was that almost all those present at the occasion were not only dressed in corporate suits but with matching ties and shoes. We are not sure whether the dress code was announced to them before the day or not but it was a glaring success.
Before the arrival of the Governor, Prince Ogunleye and Akodu were everywhere making sure that everything went well. The duo were visible in the banquet hall throwing banters with not only commissioner and CEOs of parastatals but with CEOs of chamber of Commerce and Industry in the State.
Who says that Governor Ambode, Ogunleye and Akodu would not go places, with this laudable achievement in organizing the most befitting and successful fifth Lagos Corporate Assembly.
We wish them the best of luck.
