The founder, Al-Ghiyyath Islamic Foundation and Zevotrac, Sayyidah Zeenat Kalejaiye has expressed joy and appreciation for the achievements so far recorded by her twin organisations, Al-giyyath Islamic foundation and Zevotrac, which marked their tenth and fifth year anniversary/graduation ceremony respectively recently.
While delivering a speech during the ceremony, which was held in Lagos, the founder took time to trace their journey recollecting that the foundation had been saddled with the responsibility of providing humanitarian services to the communities, which included, Health is Wealth programme (His), Fasting Without Stress (FWS), Ileya Funfair (IF), GIF Empowerment (GIFE) and the Real Mind Builders (ITMB).
Speaking further she said, “Through our health programme, we have been able to screened over five thousand people (5000) within ten years on HIV, diabetes and hypertension. Thus, we have been able to dewormed over eight thousand (8000) children.
“We have also provided over five hundred (500) free eye-glasses and successfully conducted twenty (20) free surgical operations for those who have been diagnosed of having glaucoma and cataract with the help of IMAN.”
According to her, fasting without stress, one of her programmes comes up during the month of Ramadan in which the foundation distributes items such as food stuff, clothing and other consumables to the needies, the less privileged and the widow. She said that they have been able to put smiles on the faces of over twenty thousand (20,000) Muslims within the past ten years courtesy of their sponsors.
With regard to Ileya Funfair, Alhaja Kalejaye said that they intend to change it to Eldel-fitri funfair this year due to some reasons, explaining that it is a programme where they bring, Muslim children together in order for them to catch fun and show love to one another.
As for GIFE (Al-Ghiyyath Islamic foundation Empowerment), she said it, started four years ago and is being executed in collaboration with ZEVOTRAC (Zeekay Vocational Training Centre) and has the mandate to train people in different skills of their interest in order to lift them out of the shackles of poverty.
According to Alhaja Kalejaye, Zevotrac has been ITF (Industrial Training Fund) certified, adding that they have trained and empowered over 350 students. She said that during the program, they have also organized a workshop with a seasoned motivational speaker as a resource person in order to acquaint them on how to manage and utilize the knowledge acquired at Zevotrac.
In her words, “Today, sixty eight (68) students would be graduating, making a total of four hundred and eighteen (418) students that have benefited from GIF Empowerment,” she explained.
Another programme of the foundation is The Real Mind Builders (TRMB) which is a subsidiary of Al-Ghiyyath Islamic Foundation, which she said, started by visiting some of the Muslim clerics and philanthropists. “And we have visited Alhaja Idaya Bola Muse, Alhaji and Alhaja Maroof Ayanwole, Justice Abiru and Senator Ganiyu Solomon (GOS), Alhaja Kalejaye stated.
She further explained the purpose of TRMB: “The Real mind Builder is a mentoring program set up for the muslim ladies to enable them to realise and maximize their potentials. We have organized many programs where we invite scholars to enlighten members on various issues. With the mercy of Allah and the help of people of like minds, TRMB is now a TV program, which comes up every Saturday between 12p.m to 12:30p.m on LTV 8”.
While appreciating all those who have contributed and sponsored her programs, Alhaja Sayyidah Kalejaye disclosed that, “We have just a project yet untouched and that is Al-Ghiyyath Motherless Babies’ Home. In five to ten years’ time, we want to have our Motherless Babies’ Home which will also accommodate an Arabic School and a well-equipped modern library. “
“Also, we want TRMB T.V Show to be aired on five or more different television stations. We hope to start organizing short term seminars and workshops outside the country also,” she said.
