Prince Ladega Supports 150 lndigent Students With Free GCE Forms


The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdul-Lateef Ladega, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, demonstrated his administration’s commitment to uplift education and support indigent students in the council in their efforts to acquire tertiary education, with the distribution of free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to 150 indigent students across the Ikorodu community.
The distribution of the forms took place on at the Council Secretariat, and was attended by notable Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the council, staff of the council, members of the Legislative Arm of the council, several guests as well as the lucky beneficiaries and their parents and guardians.
In his address, Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega, who was represented at the event by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, emphasized that the initiative was part of the council’s broader commitment to the growth and progress of Ikorodu.

He highlighted the importance of education as a driver of change and a key pillar of his administration’s SEED Agenda, which focuses on Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare, and Development.

Prince Ladega urged the students to seize the opportunity presented by the free GCE forms, study with purpose, and believe in their potentials, while he also commended their parents and guardians for their sacrifices and encouraged them to continue to support their children.

While expressing his gratitude to the Vice Chairman, legislative arm, management team, and staff of the local government, for their unwavering support in the growth and development of Ikorodu, the Chairman emphasized the need for continued collective effort in building a brighter future for lkorodu Local Government.
Earlier, Mr Ashafa Babalola Oladimeji, Head of Education Department, lkorodu Local government, while given the opening remarks, explained that the Chairman was given out the GCE forms in line of the State government’s agenda of given every child equal right to sound education.


He urged the beneficiaries not to sell the forms but rather get well prepared for the exam and achieveve good results as a way of appreciating the chairman for the gesture.
Mr Temitope Omoya, the Director of DT Royal School and Consultant for the registration of the beneficiaries of the free GCE forms for the examination, while briefing the gathering on the process involved in registering the beneficiaries for GCE exam, said that Prince Ladega had raised the educational standard in lkorodu with the distribution of free GCE forms and sponsorship of free summer coaching class for students in the council.


He urged the benefiting students yo work hard and engage in serious reading for the exam, while appealing to them not to take the opportunity for granted.
In their separate brief remarks, Hon Lanre Balogun, former Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development, Alhaji Badru Enifeni, Mrs Osinowo and several other party leaders and guests commended the efforts of the Council Chairman for his unwavering support for the students in furthering their education in tertiary institutions.

They urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the Chairman and work hard to achieve their academic goals, and also expressed optimism that the laudable initiative would go a long way in promoting education and empowering youths in Ikorodu.

Wasiu Shotomiwa, Leader of the House, Alhaji Rilwan Ishola Jinadu; Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, APC Chairman, Ikorodu Central; Mrs. Toyin Aroyewun representing Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, Education Secretary, Ikorodu LGEA, Alhaji Taiwo Longe, Mr. Johnson Agiri-Adekunle, Council Manager, lkorodu Local Government, and Alhaji Lookman Shonibare, Secretary, Community Development Committee (CDC), Lagos State, among others.
