Police, army, vigilante, community leaders strategies on how to flush out criminals in Ikorodu, identify suspects

Security Agencies in Ikorodu, along with religion and traditional rulers, on Thursday July 6, 2017 held a stakeholders’ meeting to deliberate on how to flush out Badoo cult gang out of the town.

While speaking during the meeting, which was held at Sabo junction (opposite Ojokoro Cemetery), Ikorodu, the security Officers representing the Army, Police, Vigilante and others, in their separate addresses, vowed to apprehend members of the cult group and flush them out of the town.

They also called on the residents to desist from jungle justice being meted out to Badoo cultists and other criminals. Other stakeholders, who also spoke at the meeting, urged the Police and other security agencies not to relent in their duties to stem the tide of wanton killings of innocent people by the cult gang. They also told them that the residents would give them the necessary assistance and cooperation.

According to the resolutions reached at the meeting, all neighborhood, every street and household must volunteer an adult for the security watch from mid-night to 4:00am; everyone must have a means of identification from henceforth.

Also in the resolutions, if you have to hold a church or mosque vigil, you must all be together and the Pastor or Imam and the church/mosque members must leave the venue together. If anything happens, the Pastor or Imam would be held responsible.

Other resolutions include that Policemen would be attached to all Vigilante groups in Ikorodu; all police divisions’ telephone numbers would be given to Ikorodu residents. It was also resolved that all areas and communities must set up burnt tyres from 12pm to 4:00am henceforth. There should be no more jungle justice and killing of suspects; anybody arrested must be handed over to the police; all Baales must start checking their areas and if any killing occurs in any place, the Baale would be arrested. Everyone was enjoined to join hand with the police in giving them information.

The police also gave the names of suspected God Fathers of Badoo as:

  • Moshood (a.k.a Mosho). He has a deformed leg, dark in complexion and is always hanging around Morning Star School, Ikorodu.
  • Alfa (a.k.a King of boys). He is tall and fair with tribal marks – Oremeta.
  • Papa Arrangee from Ilaje, who is always hanging around Owode, Ibeshe and Imota.
  • Agbara Kareem (a.k.a. I’m dark).
  • Alakoto (kidnapper)

In addition, the Police stated that any DPO, who doesn’t pick his calls during the time of distress, should be reported to the Lagos State Deputy Commissioner of Police, who would deal with such errant officer.

The security officers and others in attendance were, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lagos State; representatives of the 174 Army Battalion, Odogunyan, Ikorodu; Navy; NDLEA; DSS; OPC members; Onyabo Vigilante group in Ikorodu; Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps; Traditional Leaders; Religious Leaders; Traditionalists (Osugbo/Olomba), and Baales of different communities.
