Pilgrim board secretary Alhaji Ishola shines in Makkah, wins NAHCOM award

His name is Alhaji Ishola Rahman, the incumbent Secretary of Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Board. His appointment as the Board scribe was confirmed shortly before the commencement of the 2018 Haj exercise to handle a lot of administrative and critical aspects of the Haj operations.
This brilliant young man, highly knowledgeable in Islamic affairs, is not a new comer to the Haj management. He had worked with different Secretaries of the Board in the past, including Alhaji Adewale, Alhaji Sanni, Alhaji Okoya and Alhaji Ganiyu Abiru. So, when he was given the job, he did not feel intimidated because he was already used to the stuff.
The first thing he did when he was appointed Secretary was to assemble those he felt he would work successfully with within the board. Among them are Alhaji Soliu Olorungbebe, (Muasasa), Alhaji Ahmed Kotun, now doing his Phd course as well as all the coordinators of the 20 local councils in the State. The result is that the powerful assemblage, through team work and commitment, delivered an excellent and stress free Haj, one of the best in recent decades.
The National Haj Commission not only confirmed Lagos State as the best performing State for this year’s Haj, they singled out Alhaji Ishola Rahman for honours for his outstanding performance during the pilgrimage. It was jubilation galore at the Lagos State Camp. Success, they say, has many friends; hence, many colleagues, associates and well-wishers gathered round Ishola to rejoice with him over the award bestowed on him.
Oriwu Sun, the versatile reporting newspaper was there to get these exclusive shots. Kudos to this scribe and to the efficient Board headed by Dr. Tajudeen Yussuf for their fantastic performances.
We wish them more laurels, more caps and more feathers in the coming years of their careers.
