Our Obas, politicians speak on Igbe road

I thank the Governor for this road. It is one of the dividends of democracy the people of Ikorodu have been yearning for. I congratulate His Royal majesty, Adeboniwa of igbogbo on this. With the construction of this road, there would be appreciation in the value of landed property and land.

Therefore, don’t your land at cheaper rate because the Governor has made it possible for you to sell it at higher rate. Our Governor is a man of his word and he is really fulfilling all his electoral promises, when the contractors are working on the project, let us point out their mistakes and not wait until they finish it before making complaints.

I thank the representatives of the government in Ikorodu division because they are really giving us good representation. Such people include Hon Commissioner, Rotimi Ogunleye, Hon. Sinai Agunbiade and Hon. Solaja.

I appreciate your efforts through which the two road projects in Ikorodu about to commence were made possible. The other being Agric-Isawo-Arepo road.

OBA SEMUIDEEN KASALI (EMUGORIADE I)

I thank God for what is happening here today and for giving us Governor Ambode, who loves the people of Ikorodu greatly. When I got information that this road had been approved for reconstruction, I called Hon Rotimi Ogunleye to confirm and he gave me a positive answer.

The Governor, as I learnt, has vowed to make sure the reconstruction begins this year. This is just the beginning of better things to come. I pray that by the time this road would be commissioned and handed over for use, none of us would be dead.

FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR, PRINCE ABIODUN OGUNLEYE

This road had been constructed by the first Executive Governor of lagos state Alhaji Lateef Jakande before and I thought it would be permanent, but we took over from him didn’t take care of the road. I can see that Governor Ambode has contructed more on Epe and Ikorodu division.

When I was vying for the governorship seat then, I wanted to come and do what this present administration is doing in the two divisions. I am very happy about this, though, I have not passed through this place for some time now, I know how hectic it is to ply this road. Therefore, I congratulate the people of Igbogbo and Ikorodu division in the approval of this road project.

FORMER SECRETARY TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT ASIWAJU OLORUNFUNMI BASHORUN

We tried to construct this road in 1983 but it was not successful and we provided health centers and post offices. We turned the road to an important one in the community but we still did not enjoy it because of its bad condition. We appreciate what the Governor is doing presently about the road.

I also wanted to plead with the Governor to work on Ogolonto-Ipakodo road because of its present dilapidated state. During a stakeholders meeting with the Governor at Ikorodu Town Hall, his attention was brought to bear on Igbogbo stadium and he promised to rehabilitate it based on the agreement he got from the people at the meeting.

HON NURUDEEN SAKA-SOLAJA, REP. IKORODU CONSTITUENCY II, LSHA.

I appreciate everyone here for giving support to the lagos state government. I commend Governor Ambode for this projects in Ikorodu division. Please, I want you to cooperate with the contractors and don’t engage in land-grabbing. Anyone found culpable would be jailed. I want to ensure that our children would be among those going to look here. So, let’s give them necessary support.

FORMER HOS, PRINCE ADESEGUN OGUNLEWE

The engine room of any government is the public service. And so, on behalf of this community, I want to show appreciation to all my colleagues, particularly, those in the ministry of works and infrastructure who have worked tirelessly with the Governor to design this road and ensure that we get value for money.

I also thank all the politicians, who contributed to this achievement.

MRS FUNKE AWOYEMI, REP OF IGBE RESIDENTS:

We want the leaders to engage the Artisans and suppliers in this area with regards to the construction to relieve us of our past losses. We also want to know those we can lodge our complaints with incase of any lack of good maintenance of the road. This is because we have seen newly constructed roads in the past wearing off within a very short time. We would like to meet the contractors by the time they come to the site to clarify some issues with them.

PRINCE CHARLES ADEDEJI

I implore that you should tell us when the project would start and we want to beg the Governor to consider reconstruction of Offin-Oreta road and Ogunlewe road.

HON SESAN DAINI EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA

I want to deliver message to Hon Jumi Benson, who is unavoidably absent due to other government engagement. He would have been happy to be here. The other message is from the Hon. Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and culture, Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, who is on an emergency state function.

In my view, the best thing we can do is to take ownership of this project. We should not disturb the contractors and the Governor. All shop owners should endeavor to pay their levies and rates. I thank everybody for being part of this development.

HON SALISU FATIU, CHAIRMAN, IJEDE LCDA.

The road project is going to enhance the socio-economic activities in this area, especially in Igbogbo and Ijede, and down to Imota. The project would have a multiplier effect in the entire Ikorodu division.

I want everyone to cooperate with the government in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
