The unassuming editor of Oriwu Sun newspaper and general secretary of Oriwu Central Mosque, Hadji Kazim Ganiu-Sanni on Sunday, May 8, 2016 was turbaned as the new Alaga Adeen of the first mosque in Ikorodu, Isele Mosque, Ikorodu.
The ceremony which took place at Isele mosque was witnessed by the family members, friends, Pathfinders Club members, chieftains of the mosque and members of Oriwu Central Mosque Youth Organisation
Speaking during the ceremony, the Imam of the mosque, Alhaji (Chief) Abdul Rafiu Alade Abiodun said the Alaga Adeen was bestowed on Hadji Kazim Ganiu-Sanni in recognition of his efforts to the development of Islam and his grandfather, Late Chief Sanni Adebambo Ogunbajo (a.k.a. Sanni Carpenter), who died 35 years ago was the Alaga Adeen of the mosque.
He stressed that members of the mosque don’t want Chief Sanni’s name be eroded in the mosque; hence, Hadji Kazim was chosen from their family to be turbaned as Alaga Adeen.
After Imam Abiodun’s address, Hadji Kazim was invited to the front of the mosque, where he was turbaned with enthusiasm by the chieftains of Isele mosque led by Imam Abiodun and Alhaji Abdul Wasih Adio Bawa-Allah, Imam Oriwu Ratibi mosque.
After the turbanning session, Hadji (Chief) Kazim Ganiu-Sanni expressed his appreciation, stating, “I give thanks to Almightl Allah for sparing my life and for making me witness this installation. “I also thank my wives, children, family members and everyone present at this occasion. I feel very grateful, delighted, honoured and happy to receive the Chieftaincy title because it has been away from my family for over thirty five years after the death of my grandfather.
“I have always promised to give my best to religion by showing more commitments. My advice to every member of the family is to keep on working hard to make progress for our religion. By doing that, we can only be rewarded by Allah and not by man.
“I will also advise my children to face their studies, be truthful and be religious in everything they do in life.
“And finally, I dedicate this award to the Almighty Allah as my appreciation goes to Imam Rafiu Abiodun; Alhaji (Chief) Kareem Salaudeen (Baba Adeen Isele Mosque); Alhaji (Chief) Wasiu Layembi Oyenuga, (Ekerin Adeen of Isele mosque), Alhaji (Chief) Zaheed Alowonle (Arowosadini of Isele Mosque) and all other executives. My appreciation also goes to all those present at the occasion, which include, Imam Musebadeen, Imam Bawa-Allah and Abdul Wasiu. May Almighty Allah reward them abundantly”
The new Alaga Adeen of Isele mosque, who has received other chieftaincy titles before is the first in the family to reclaim this title after thirty five years of their grandfather’s demise, who also held the same title. He was Pa Sanni Adebambo Ogunbajo (Sanni Carpenter).
