Prestigious Oriwu Club, led by its President, Alhaji Safaru Sule, recently visited the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi in his palace, to once again pay homage and to remind him about his position as the life patron of the club.
While speaking at the gathering, which had some traditional chiefs in attendance at the main hall of the palace, Oriwu Club’s President, Alhaji Safaru Sule, pointed out that the visit was a courtesy one and it was meant to once again pay homage to the paramount ruler of Ikorodu division and to remind him of his rightful position in the club.
The President said although the monarch was a member of the club, the fact that he had ascended the throne of his forefathers as the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, makes him automatically the life patron. He, therefore, wished the kabiyesi well while commending on how he has kept the people of Ikorodu together since he became their king.
He did not fail to also praise the leadership style of the royal father, which he linked to peace and harmony being enjoyed in the division.
In his response, HRM Oba Shotobi (Adegorushen V), the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, showered encomiums on the visitors as he acknowledged the supports being given to him by the club members’ right from the time a king was to be selected. He later assured them that being already a member of the club, he knew the responsibilities of life patron and he would live up to expectation.
The Monarch also presented Asoju Oba of Ikorodu, Chief Kazeem Ogbara, to be considered as a new member of the club while the document of recommendation was presented to the club president by the royal father. After prayers were offered by the Ikorodu monarch and his traditional chiefs, a photo session and good hospitality ended the memorable visit.
