This is a good season for Obas in Ikorodu division as Governor Ambode upgrades the monarchs in this part of the state.
Few months ago, it was the Obateru of Egbinland, Oba Adeoriyomi Oyebo, who was promoted to a First Class Oba. This time around, it is the turn of the Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya.
A formal letter dated 24th April, 2017, and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Fola Adonu, announced that the State Executive Council, at its 60th meeting held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, considered and approved the upgrading of HRM Oba R.A. Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe, from second class to first class in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LGA.
According to the letter, notice of the upgrade will soon be published in the state official gazette. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has since congratulated Oba Ogunsanya on the upliftment.
With this latest upgrading, Ikorodu division now has three confirmed first class Obas – namely Oba Kabir Shotobi of Ikorodu, Oba Adeoriyomi Oyebo of Egbinland and Oba R.A. Ogunsanya.
It is not certain if HRM Oba Fatai Agoro (Ranodu of Imota) and Oba Kasali (the Adegboruwa of Igbogbo) are affected by this ranking.
Already, the Sole Administrator of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA has conveyed the upgrading notice to Oba Ogunsanya in a letter dated 8th May, 2017, and signed by Chief (Mrs.) Bolanle Bashorun, who has equally congratulated the kabiyesi on the recognition and forwarded to him the letter from State Government and Governor Ambode’s felicitations.
