As part of the activities marking Lagos at fifty, the Lagos State government organized the Ikorodu session on December 18, 2016 at the musical village, Ikorodu.
The event witnessed all the Obas in the division in attendance led by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, HRM, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi followed by Ranodu of Imota, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Olubeshe of Ibeshe and the Obateru of Egbin.
The event, which was slated to start from 12:00p.m did not start until 2:00p.m but it was well attended by dignitaries in the division. It was a gathering of who is who in the division and was also attended by Prof. Wole Soyinka. Because the event started late, the Prof Soyinka did not wait for the occasion to start before he left.
However, the event which went on beautifully was anchored by Professor Kunle Ade Wahab. During the occasion, a play written by late Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi titled ‘Echoes from the Lagoon’ reverberated to mark his memory. Also a paper titles Ikorodu Division yesterday, Today and Tomorrow with Lagos as mega city was delivered.
Until his death, Rasheed was the co-chairman of Lagos at fifty. The play was a short story of the true nature of life in Lagos where it is very easy to become rich and very easy to remain poor as well.
The story portrays Lagos as a melting pot of immense proportions with the good, the bad and the ugly interacting on a daily basis.
It was a play done in Ikorodu, the home of Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi to honour him and to show his contributions to all aspects of national development and to show his love for art, being a play wright, music lover and more. Also the following intellectuals delivered festival symposium papers: Professor Kunle Ade Wahab OON, OFR, former Special Adviser on due process, RTD. Col. (Rev). Bola Titi Onafowokan, (School Proprietor and Telecom Expert); Prof. Olumuyiwa Noah, (Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, LASU); Hon. Chief Kaoli Olusanya, (former Commissioner for Agriculture Lagos State and Ganiyu I. Agbaje PHD, A Geosputial Model for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development for Lagos State, Ikorodu Division Vision.
