Oba Shotobi settles rift between Lanre, Bombata, Sir ‘K’ Oluwo

A peace deal, brokered by His Royal Majesty, Oba KabirShotobi, among three popular and influential personalities involved in security and land matters, is said to be yielding positive results in the community as tension has been doused over cultism and security threats in the division.

Oriwu Sun learnt that first, Oba Shotobi recently resolved the differences between the Onyabo Vigilante boss, Chief KamorudeenOsikabalaBombata and one of his deputies, Mr. Lanre, which had disturbed the smooth running and effectiveness of that security outfit, which had boldly combatted cultists over the years. Then, the Kabiyesi invited two strong men, Mr. LanreLabinjo of Onyabo and OtunbaKamorudeen Lamina (a.k.a Sir ‘K’ Oluwo), a land agent/developer based in Odogunyan. These two men, who are seen as warriors, had been engaging themselves in verbal wars and accusing each other of sponsoring criminal groups and of plotting to kill one another.

They had dragged themselves to different quarters, including Panti Police Station, Yaba, on accusation of either being cultists or sponsors (godfathers) of cult members. Sir ‘K’ on his part had accused Lanre of being the brain behind an alleged recent attempt to assassinate him at his Hotel premises in Odogunyan area. Regarded as a rich and powerful estate developer and land agent, Sir Kay is also well known in security circles as a power broker, who had denied accusations of sponsoring cultists and criminals.

The timely and fatherly intervention of Oba KabirShotobi has yielded positive dividend as Oriwu Sun learnt that Shotobi invited both Lanre and Sir ‘K’ to his palace one early morning of Friday, February 17, 2017 after he had resolved the issues between Lanre and Bombata. We gathered that the mediation between Lanre and Sir Kay lasted for nearly two hours in the wee hours of that day at the palace behind closed doors, where both strongmen vented their grievances and recalled an agreement with the kabiyesi.

Oriwu Sun learnt that both men swore an oath to keep the peace before the Kabiyesi, promising not to harm each other and pledging to let peace reign in the community. To buttress the peace accord, similar to the one currently focused on in the Niger Delta between the Federal Government and the militants, Oriwu Sun learnt that Lanre has joined Sir ‘K’ to have breakfast in his home at Odogunyan and later, the two came to Lanre’s place for lunch before ending the day at Bombata’s place for a round-off treat.

Now that a peace accord exists among Bombata, Lanre and Sir ‘K’, security watchers believe that days of cultism are numbered in Ikorodu – division as these men have the wherewithal to fight that menace to a halt.

One observer told Oriwu Sun that the heavy clamp down by the police, SARS and OP Messa on cultists between December last year and February this year, calmed the situation in the area, especially Odogunyan/Ogijo axis. He believes that this new peace accord, struck by Oba Shotobi for Bombata, Lanre and Sir ‘K’, would bring greater peace in the community to complement development efforts of Ambode’s administration in Ikorodu division.
