Oba Shotobi preaches religious tolerance thanks other Obas for ending ‘Badoo’ menace

His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu, on Friday, September 8, 2017, commended all religious leaders in Ikorodu for their various roles in bringing an end to the Baddo Cult menace in the division. He also thanked the Governor for organizing a social party for Muslims during Eid-el-Kabir.

While speaking in his Palace during the celebration with Ikorodu Muslim Community Association (IMCA), he stated that various fervent prayers from religious leaders and faithful contributed to the ending of the menace. He urged them to continue to pray for Ikorodu so that peace and progress would reign in the town.

The Monarch later wished all Muslim faithful, Islamic leaders and Jamats, who visit him yearly on each occasion of Eid-eL-Kabir, better celebration next year. He also appealed to them to embrace unity and maintain a harmonious relationship with their neighbours. He equally expressed his appreciation to all IMCA executives and members of the Association for their show of love and interest in the development of Ikorodu.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Ikorodu Central Mosque, Alhaji Sheikh Seifudeen Olowooribi, in his goodwill message, implored all Muslims to emulate the faith of Ibrahim in the Quran. He told them to live their lives according to Islamic doctrines and be good examples to those around them.

During his welcome address, IMCA’s Coordinator commended Oba Shotobi for his various developmental initiatives in Ikorodu and his meaningful contribution to the course of Islam. He said the event is celebrated yearly at the palace to rejoice with the royal family and offer prayers. He added that the occasion has also become an avenue through which the Association further fosters unity and peaceful coexistence amongst all Islamic societies in Ikorodu.

The features of this year’s celebration included several readings from the Holy Quran, launching of an Islamic calendar, Bursary Award presentations as well as prayers for Lagos State, Ikorodu division, the Ayangburen and his royal household, among others.

Those who attended the event were, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya; Aremo Adeniyi Ogunsanya with his wife, Ayamo Modupe Ogunsanya; Alhaji Tajudeen Bawa-Allah; Alhaji Sulaimon Ogidi; Alhaji Jamiu Saka; Olori Kudirat Shotobi; Alhaji Abdulfatai Abiodun; Alhaji Lukman Erogbogbo and Alhaji Babatunde Bakare, among others.
