Oba Shotobi parades Ooni, 10 Obas at Oriwu Club investiture as Life Patron

The organisers may have deliberately put that of Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade as the last, knowing that the popular politician is a crowd pulling personality. All the eight new members, including Banker, Chief (Dr.) Kazeem Ogbara, were present. Each of them consumed about twenty (20) minutes of the time allocation.

To appreciate the presence of the royal fathers, each of them took part one way or the other in the presentations of plaques or certificates to the members and guests, including the gifts to the Ooni of Ife.

From Ikorodu division came the Oba of Imota, the Oba of Igbogbo, the Oba of  Ibeshe and the Oba of Egbin. Other royal dignitaries present include, Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Abdul Fatai Aremu Aromire (see roll call).

The climax of the event was the royal dance. All the Obas joined the newly crowned life patron, Oba Shotobi, on the dance floor and the bandstand erupted with feverish blasts of the music blasting the air waves and vibrating the hall.

For more than forty (40) minutes, the Obas and their wives danced to the admiration of the audience, who later joined the rock and roll dance session.

Amidst late lunch, drinks and other from the kitchen, the great hall bubbled with  infectious friendship and euphoria.

By 7pm, the music was nowhere near ending while the guests were not in a hurry to leave as those, who came late to the event, joined the crowd of merry makers.

It was hectic driving in or out of that venue. Everywhere was chocked up with men and machines (cars). The tarred lanes of the club premises were also full of personal aides of the dignitaries – their drivers, escorts and other service personnel.

For members of Oriwu Club, they must have felt highly elated at their achievement that day. The memories of the investiture would also not die soon in the minds of Oba Shotobi and his counterparts from all parts of Yoruba land. Oriwu Club, once more, had made a strong statement as a power house in Ikorodu division, whose sneeze and cough would attract great concern and attention.
