His Royal Majesty (HRM) and the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, (Adegorushen 5), on Friday, July 21, 2017, laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction and re-development of the demolished Block ‘B’ complex, Ayangburen Market in Sabo Ikorodu. In his address during the ceremony, Oba Shotobi, who was visibly elated over the development, rejoiced with the traders and commended the state government for granting the approval for the reconstruction of the demolished shops. He tasked the contractors to do a good job, which would meet the traders’ expectations, while urging them to embrace peace and unity and also shun acts capable of causing problems, including hampering the development of the market. While commending Governor Ambode for his timely intervention on the demolition crisis in the market and the several developmental projects he has approved for Ikorodu division, Oba Shotobi urged the traders and the entire residents of the division to continue to support the Governor and his party, APC, to enable him deliver the dividends of democracy to the division. Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, in his address, disclosed that the state government had approved the reconstruction of the demolished shops to ensure that the affected traders continue their trading activities under a conducive environment. He also assured that investigations were on-going to expose those behind the illegal demolition as they would not go unpunished. Agunbiade appealed to the traders to continue to support Gov. Ambode and the APC to enable them deliver on their campaign promises to the people. Meanwhile, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, former Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State, Alhaja (Chief) Taofeek Allison, Iya Oloja of Ikorodu and Alhaji (Chief) Folorunsho Alogba, Baba-Oja of Ayangburen market urged the traders to sheath their swords and allow peace and unity to reign in the market while imploring them to continue to support Governor Ambode and the party. The ceremony also featured a special prayer session for the market and traders, which was conducted by Pastor Tunde Williams, Mallam Yakubu, Chief Imam of Sabo central mosque and Chief Kareem Ore, Apena of Ikorodu, all of whom offered prayers in Christian, Muslim and traditional ways of worship. There was also the presentation of court settlement document between the traders and Ikorodu Local Government to Oba Shotobi by Mr. Patrick Nwabuisi, Chairman of Block ‘B’ section of the Ayangburen market. The ceremony eventually came to a close with the laying of the foundation stone for the re-construction of the demolished shops by Oba Shotobi. The ceremony recorded huge turnout of traders and was attended by dignitaries within Ikorodu community. Others who graced the occasion included, Chief Sulaimon Ogidi, Ajiroba of Ikorodu; Chief Zacheus Odusoga, Lisa of Ikorodu; Chief Sikiru Ibuowo Ogunneye, Ogbeni-Oja of Ikorodu; Engr Daniel Osazuwa, CEO, Road Maker, Nigeria Limited. Others include the representatives of Iya-Oloja of Lagos State, traditional Chiefs, Baales and Osugbos.
