Murder in LASPOTECH: Security guard kills colleague

letus Williams, an outsourced security guard of the Lagos State Polytechnic was apprehended for the murder of his colleague John Okoro, while on night duty in the school premises on May 24, 2019.
Cletus allegedly slit his victim’s throat and severed his hand with a matched. Though there are several accounts to what led to the murder, there was no established reason for the murder. Some people said that the two hard a prior argument to the attack, while others believed that both guards threatened each other with their weapon hours before the murder took place.
The polytechnic public relations officer, Mr. Lanre Kuye debunked all rumour as regards the motive. According to the PRO, the report reach them that evening when Cletus was seen trying to hide the dismembered corpse and other security men apprehend the culprit.
Other security men who were shocked by the savage act of their colleague, arrested Cletus and called on their superiors for directives. The Chief Security Officer of the polytechnic, Colonel Mike (rtd) contacted the police station after gathering details of the murder. The policemen took over the matter by taking the culprit into custody and send the corps to hospital for postmortem. The police area command has since send the suspect to state command in charge of top criminal matters like murder.
The murder weapon has been retrieved and handed over to the police for further investigation. The Police Public Relations Officer Bala Elkana told the press that Homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, have been working since the incident happened to ascertain the motive of the murderer. Unconfirmed sources alleged that Cletus Williams confessed this is not his first time of killing. Some staff members of the institution who claimed to know the victim said John Okoro who was married without child for several years, just had a newborn baby by his wife.
