Mrs. Folashade Adesoye, the incumbent Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), has been appointed to replace the former Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Olabode Ademola, as the new acting Head of Service.
Mrs. Adesoye, a Chartered Accountant and very brilliant civil servant, was primarily serving as an accountant and had served in various local government areas before she was transferred to Alausa some years back.
As a result of her brilliance, she was appointed Permanent Secretary, Pensions, during Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. From there, she was moved to Local Government Establishment Commission, Old Secretariat and was later brought back to Alausa to the Women Affairs Ministry.
Mrs. Adesoye, a friend of the house (Oriwu Sun) arising from her good working relationship with the paper right from her days in the local government, is very humble, cheerful and polite.
While she was in the local government, she was always ready with smiles and eager to help people. She was also friendly with contractors but not one to collect kickbacks.
Though, she was appointed in acting capacity, we are sure that she won’t disappoint Governor Ambode, whom she had previously worked with in the local government. He must have tested her integrity as a chartered accountant like himself.
The former Head of Service (HOS), along with her husband, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, had been accused by the EFCC of fraud following a raid on their home by the operatives of the Directorate of State Services (DSS).
She and her husband were arraigned on an eleven (11) count charge of conspiracy to receive gratification of thirty million naira from JOE Agi and Associates.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, in a release, said that Mrs. Ademola sought permission to be excused from her duty as HOS while she proves her innocence in the allegation against her.
