The publisher of the acclaimed most authentic, most successful and most widely read community newspaper in Nigeria, Oriwu Sun, Chief Monzor Olowosago will clock 65 years on April 25, 2016.
Out of these 65 years of his existence on earth, thirty-one (31) of them have been spent in pioneering and piloting his community newspaper Oriwu Sun in a volatile community called Ikorodu.
Unlike previous milestones, when the publisher organized big parties to mark his 40th, 50th and 60th birthdays, Chief Olowosago said he will conform to the mood of the nation, which dictates low profiles, austerity, prayers and sober reflections.
According to Chief Olowosago the marking of his birthday will start on Sunday April, 24 with prayers at NASFAT mosque, Akasolori, Ikorodu, where he intends to gather with his friends, associates and well-wishers.
He said he will devote the hours in the mosque to prayers for himself and his loved ones and raise money from donations by his supporters, which will be channeled to the promotion of the cause of Islam and charity to the poor in the society.
A renowned Islamic scholar is expected to deliver a lecture during that outing on a crucial contemporary topic. The following day, Monday April 25, the publisher intends to be at his residence with his family members for an exclusive session of prayers.
In all, of the two day prayers, Chief Olowosago said he will pray for forgiveness of sins for himself and for his loved ones as well as thank the Almighty Allah for His goodness and blessing upon him while asking God to grant him good health, peace and enough financial sustenance in the future.
