A mob of assailants suspected to be thugs, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, wreaked havoc at the lta-Oluwo area of lkorodu, beating a young man to death, while inflicting serious injuries on another.
According to report, the two victims of the cynical attack, Lekan Bolu Akinde and Femi Adeoye, were friends and were living together in an apartment located at 6, Abiodun Dickson Street, Ita-Oluwo, before the incident.
Oriwu Sun, however, learnt that around 9pm on that fateful day, the assailants allegedly broke into the apartment of the two friends, and savagely attacked Femi who was said to be alone in the house at that time.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the incident, told our reporter that after gaining entry into the apartment, the attackers forcefully dragged Femi outside and beat him to death before hurriedly fleeing the scene.
Another eyewitness, who equally spoke under anonymity, explained that Lekan came in when his friend was struggling for his life in the hands of the assailants and quickly attempted to rescue him, but was also attacked with a machete and was lucky to have escaped with a deep cut to his face and head.
The two eyewitnesses added that the reason behind the attack was unknown, but that the incident was immediately reported to the Sagamu Road Police Station, lkorodu. An officer in the station confirmed the incident to our reporter, and also disclosed that investigations were ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
However, as at the time of filing this report, no arrest has been made as the police reportedly had no firm lead about the identity of the assailants.
