In the spirit of Ramadan, Hon. Babajimi Benson, the quiet, hardworking and brilliant lawyer, has decided this time around to target Muslim faithful during Ramadan by giving them food from his inexhaustible monthly food basket. Some Christians also benefitted from his gesture.
While addressing the beneficiaries, a member of ‘I Care Foundatio, Alhaji Orire said that Jimi Benson engaged his constituents in various empowerment programmes and also provided infrastructure. He said he could not stop but continue to thank Jimi Benson for providing food for those poor people and catering for their family.
According to him, the beneficiaries were drawn from churches, mosques, market men and women, Associations of CDC, CDA, artisan groups etc. He said that, though Benson was not around to breakfast with them, this member said that he would continue to give dividends of democracy to his constituency to show that he truly cares.
A n Islamic cleric, Alhaji Abdul Rasheed Oladimeji, Chief Imam, Ajaguro Mosque, a beneficiary, Alhaji Abdul Rasheed Oladimeji told the audience that the one of the purposes of Ramadan was to make provision for those who could not afford food for fasting and prayed that only God would repay Hon. Jimi Benson for helping to put smiles on many faces and Allah in his mercy would continue to reward him.
Meanwhile, Chief Imam of Ikorodu West LCDA, Sheikh Musafau Kosoko Aridegbe, also commended Benson for his care and for not discriminating in all his programmes and activities. He said he was not surprised to see this because he knew about the good record of the law maker and urged everyone to vote for him for second term.
Also to support what the Chief Imam said, the leader of people living with disabilities in Ikorodu, Mrs. Kehinde Adeyigbo, who spoke to Oriwu Sun from her wheel chair, commended the food basket of Jimi Benson, especially for her group members who had benefited immensely from his programmes.
To her, “This ‘I care food programme’ of Jimi Benson always go a long way and we are elated whenever we are called to come and collect it and there is no discrimination because they attend to everyone promptly and give us transport money back home.”
According to her, everyone should vote for the lawmaker in the next election.
The beneficiaries ended the programme by showering blessings on Jimi Benson and Nigeria.
