To say that Honourable Jimi Benson, the proud son of Ikorodu, is representing his division very well in the House of Representatives is not an exaggeration.
This young Barrister in his 40s laboured very hard to make sure that the Ikorodu-Shagamu Road, which has been a nightmare for motorists travelling along that axis, got federal government’s approval in this year’s budget.
Like late Senator Mubashir Abiru, the father of the Managing Director of Skye Bank, Mr. Tokunboh Abiru, and also the father of a renowned judge of a Federal High Court, Justice H.A.O. Abiru, who tabled a resolution in the National Assembly in the 80’s for the construction of Oriya Hill along Lagos – Ikorodu road, which was a nightmare for motorists coming from Lagos to Ikorodu, Hon. Jimi Benson had taken over the baton of pushing for another resolution in the national assembly.
This year’s federal government budget has earmarked two billion naira for the construction of that road. With many empowerment programme, embarked on by Hon. Jimi Benson, especially the monthly programme of giving food to the elderly and also empowering the youths with self-empowering programme, the young Barrister has made his marks in the history of Ikorodu politics.
We are confident that after eight years in the house, Jimi Benson would be ripe to become the next Governor of Lagos State.
