Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society, (NASFAT) Ikorodu branch, on Monday, May 20, 2019, held a special Ramadan Lecture at the palace of Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi.
The event, which was the first of its kind to be hosted by the beloved Oba, was attended by hundreds of members of Ikorodu branch of the muslim society who were led to the occasion by the duo of Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, the Chairman, Council of Elders, NASFAT Ikorodu branch and the Publisher of Oriwu Sun, and Fadhilat Sheikh Olawale Muali, the Chief Missioner, NASFAT Ikorodu branch and NASFAT, Lagos Zone I.
Also at the event were the wife of the monarch, Olori Kudirat Shotobi, traditional chiefs and Baales who had all come to support the Oba.
Sheikh Muali, while speaking on the topic of the lecture which was ‘The concept of Sharia in Islam,’ thanked Oba Shotobi for hosting the Ramadan lecture, stating that his decision to host the event showed that he is a devout Muslim despite the position he is occupying.
He also lauded the monarch and his wife for the warm reception given him and members of the Society. He prayed that God would continue to honour and protect them.
The Islamic scholar described Sharia as Islamic Laws, which were sent by God through the Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) for the proper governance of the affairs of mankind and added that there are certain things that must be put in place by the government to enhance effective dispensation of Justice under Sharia.
He also mentioned the five objectives of Sharia laws which are preservation of Islamic religion, preservation of life, safeguarding of mind, presentation of respect and honour and preservation of wealth.
Sheikh Muali further stated that Islam is the only religion that gives a comprehensive explanation on the origin of man on earth and every aspect of man’s life.
He, therefore, said Muslims should count themselves lucky that God created them as Muslims and urged them remain fervent in the religion all through their life time and also preserve Islam by ensuring that their family members and other people embrace Islam.
While giving the vote of thanks on behalf of NASFAT, Ikorodu Branch, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago thanked Oba Shotobi for hosting the Ramadan lecture in his palace.
He told the gathering that Ikorodu NASFAT is the largest branch worldwide, adding that the branch attained that envious position due to the financial commitment of floor members, particularly the women, whose weekly monetary contributions was largely responsible for the development of the branch.
Alhaji Olowosago appealed to Oba Shotobi, his Olori, traditional ChiefS, and guests to support the branch financially and assured them that their donations would be judiciously used for further development.
In his response, Oba Shotobi thanked NASFAT Ikorodu branch for bringing the Ramadan Lecture to his palace.
He explained that he had wanted to host the lecture on several occasions but was unable to do that due to other commitments and thanked God that he finally succeeded.
He described NASFAT as an exemplary Muslim society which is known worldwide as the pride of Islam while also disclosing that he and his wife alongside their last child travelled with NASFAT contingent for their first hajj pilgrimage.
Oba Shotobi, however, requested members of the branch to come and hold one of their weekly Asalatu (prayers) programmes in his palace after the Ramadan period, stating that such event would enable him and other people of Ikorodu to join them in praying for the peace and progress of Ikorodu and for the elimination of cult crisis and other criminal activities.
The lecture was rounded off with a special prayer session for Oba Shotobi, his wife and Ikorodu in general.
