The Ikorodu General Hospital, on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, dished out different awards and recognition to its hardworking, dedicated and committed staff during the hospital’s 2016 Service Charter Award ceremony, which was organized by its management.
Speaking at the event, which took place at the hospital premises to reward and celebrate outstanding performance across the units in the hospital, Dr. Mobolaji A. Olukoya disclosed that the awardees had performed creditably in their chosen fields and their performances had been felt by the managements, considering the fact that Ikorodu general hospital had won the best medical centre in the state for the third time.
He explained that the hospital, which won the best medical centre in the state in the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 at the Lagos State Service Charter Awards organized by the office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), must not fail to recognize its doctors, nurses and other members of staff, who made it possible. Dr. Olukoya also commended the transformation in the Lagos State Health sector, which prompted the practice of Service Charter in all medical centres in the state. He observed that Service Charter, which was launched by the state government in the year 2012, had been responsible for various successes being recorded by all the MDAs in Lagos State.
The Director, OTCI, Princess AdenikeAdedoyinAjayi, also pointed out that Service Charter was launched to serve Lagosians better. She affirmed that Ikorodu General Hospital had continued to maintain excellent standards of service delivery required by the Centre of Excellence. She told the public that Citizens’ Gate, a platform through which citizens could freely interact with the state government, had been launched, while also urging them to make use of it to lodge complaints about services and comment on whatever the government or their fellow citizens are doing. She advised the award recipients to continue to do their best since the reward for hard work is more work.
After service delivery sensitization presented to the gathering by Mrs. Juan Oluyemi, who represented Dr. Zamba at the event, there was recognition and presentation of award certificates and award plaque with cash gifts to the awardees. The hospital’s Director for Service Delivery, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, handled this session while dignitaries assisted in presenting the awards to the respective recipients. The climax of the presentation came when Dr. Mobolaji A. Olukoya was presented with a meritorious award for his sterling leadership, qualities and dedication to service charter. He, along with Dr. Hassan, promised qualitative health care for residents of Ikorodu.
