While the 2027 general elections may still be many months away, and many aspirants still having their hope of getting endorsement of their parties and people, hanging in the balance, the re-election bid (though, yet to be made public and officia by the federal lawmaker) of the performing and beloved representative of the lkorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, for a record fourth term, has already been signed, sealed and delivered as he has received the endorsement of his party and constituents in lkorodu division.
The overwhelming endorsement, which by all considerations, is well deserved and well earned considering his impressive and impactful representation, was handed out to the federal lawmaker, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, during his town hall meeting with party leaders and executives, which holds quarterly.
The well attended event, which was held at the lawmaker’s Constituency Office in lkorodu, had the impressive attendance of leaders executives members of All Progressives Congress (APC) across the six councils in lkorodu division.
Also in attendance were leadership of markets and Community Development Associations (CDAs) in lkorodu division, as well as residents who had all come to show support for their darling representative.
The ongoing APC’s e-registration membership registration dominated the discourse at the political gathering, as party leaders, led the APC chairman in lkorodu division, Otunba Olasunkami Tijani, and Rep Jimi Benson, commended party executives, members and the generality of residents in lkorodu division, for turning out for the exercise and making sure that lkorodu division lead the registration drive in Lagos State, going by the statistics released by the leadership of the party in Lagos State, while they urged that more efforts be geared towards the exercise to ensure more people come out to participate in the exercise to improve lkorodu division’s dominance in the exercise in Lagos State and the country as a whole.
The event, however, climaxed when the APC chairmen in the six councils (lkorodu Central, Igbogbo-Bayeku, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Ijede and Imota), led by Otunba Olasunkami Tijani, came out and announced to the admiration of the cheering crowd of party members that the party has decided to endorse Rep. Jimi Benson for another term as the representative of lkorodu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, in the coming general elections in 2027.
The unexpectedly announced endorsement for the lawmaker, led to a moment of ecstasy and jubilation at the event as the entire gathering gave a deafening shout and also raised their hands in agreement with the announcement.
Otunba Tijani, in a brief statement while announcing the endorsement on behalf of the leadership of the party in lkorodu division, said that Rep Benson’s unprecedented performance since his emergence as the representative of the lkorodu Federal Constituency, in 2015, informed their decision.
He said that, though, many are tipping the lawmaker for the governorship position of Lagos State, the party has decided to give him the endorsement as a way of securing the House of Representatives’s position for him, while stating that if the opportunity to become the governor comes later, the party will be more than ready to support him overwhelmingly.
In the same vein, the 30 ward Chairmen of the party, as well as the six CDA Chairmen representing the over 2,600 CDAs in lkorodu division, also followed in the footsteps of the party chairmen, as they took turn to also announce their support for Rep. Benson’s endorsement by the party leadership in the division.
While addressing the gathering, the conspicuously elated Federal lawmaker, thanked the party leadership and membership as well as entire constituents for their support, love and prayers for him, stating that his happiest moment has always been when he’s in their amidst.
Speaking on the ongoing e-membership registration exercise of the party, he urged both the party leaders and members to improve on the current figures recorded by lkorodu, by going out to canvass more people to register for the party.
While reacting to party members’ opposition to Otunba Olasunkami Tijani’s statement regarding party executives’ performances in the registration exercise, Rep Benson said that the party leader was only trying to charging them to put in more efforts so that lkorodu could emerge as the best in the exercise not only in Lagos State, but Nigeria as a whole.
He explained that while votes given to President Bola Tinubu, by lkorodu division, which was the highest in the country during the last General elections, was responsible for the various infrastructural and developmental projects he has been facilitating to lkorodu from Abuja, he assured them that many projects would still come if lkorodu could register more voters and give more votes to the President, in the 2026 general elections.
Rep. Benson went on to inform the gathering that several mouthwatering projects are already in the pipeline for lkorodu division, courtesy of the President Tinubu’s led Federal government.
According to him, the President has approved the construction of an overhead bridge at Majidun, adding that this is already in the 2026 budget.
He added further that there would be construction a of Command Secondary School at Odongunyan in Ikorodu North LCDA, while Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA will be getting a Federal Medical Centre.
Meanwhile, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, the Director General of iCareFoundation, the operational platform of Rep. Babajimi Benson, speaking on the sideline of the event, called for more support for the lawmaker, assuring that more impactful and programmes would be embarked upon this year, to further improve the living standards of the people across the lkorodu Federal Constituency.
