Ijebu association in America donates items to Ita-Elewa maternity health centre

The Ijebu Association of United State of America (U.S.A) Corporation, an association of Ijebu Indigenes, on Friday, October, 2019 defied the distance between America and Nigeria to show their love and affection for their root with the donation of relief materials to the Ikorodu Primary Health Center, Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu.

The association, which membership cut across several Ijebu towns such as; Ikorodu, Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu-Isara and Odolewu, was formed to enable members to contribute to the development and improved standard of living of their people back home in Nigeria.

On that Friday, the association, through their representatives, visited the Ita-Elewa health center to officially make the presentation of the items to the hospital management led by the Chief Matron and other ranking officers.

Among the items donated were; set of white chairs, diapers, slippers, baby socks, baby clothes, towels, packs of table water, baby shawls, cartons of coaster biscuits, benches, baby flasks, air freshers, automatic blood pressure machine with monitor, non-contact infrared thermometer, bed spread and pillow case.

Meanwhile, Barrister Buloye Somade, Esq, who led the team to present the items to the health center on behalf of the association, in an interview with Oriwu Sun stated that the Ijebu Association of United State of America in-Corporation was establish to enable members to contribute their quota to the development and well-being of their people across Ijebu domains in the country.

He explained that the donation to the health center is a proof that members of the association are passionate and concerned about the health care of the people of Ikorodu.

Barrister Somade said that though, this is the first time the association was making donation to Ikorodu community, it had donated items to other places across Lagos State.

While describing the donation at the health center as a tip of an iceberg, he disclosed that the association plans to donate more items to the general hospital in Ikorodu as well as other sectors as a way of touching the lives of the people.

Barrister Somade said that the items donated are combination of what the association intended to donate and what the management of the health center requested for.

He however, advised the management of the health center to ensure judicious use of the items for the purpose they are meant for in order to have the desired effects, while also warning against diversion of any kind.

Two of the members of the association, Mr. Azeez Olatunji Alogba and Alhaji Toyin Ekiyoyo, in their brief seperate telephone interview from the United States of America with our reporter at the scene of the presentation of the items, said that they founded the association to assist their people back home financially, morally and economically with their wealth.

They explained that the donations being made to Ita Elewa health center in Ikorodu and other places are their own way of contributing to the development of their people in Nigeria and assuring them that they are still with them despite the distance between them.

They promised to give more donations and carry out other laudable projects to further enhance the standard of living and well-being of the people across the Ijebu towns.

The management of the health center in its response, presented an award of excellence and a letter of appreciation to the association in recognition of its meritorious services to the people of Ikorodu.
