Meanwhile, those who witnessed the incident and other BRT stakeholders have called on the State Government to provide a permanent solution in curbing the incessant BRT killings of people along that route. They described that route as a danger zone for pedestrians, especially school children, who cross the road on daily basis while going to school. According to them, construction of a pedestrian bridge would forestall further loss of lives on the road.
Other people also called for the presence of an adult, through the joint efforts of the Parents/Teachers’ Association of the two schools located along that route (Government College and Cherubim and Seraphim Primary School), who would be stationed by the roadside to assist the little children in crossing the road.
It was also suggested that the State Government and Community Development Association in the area could team up to further prevent loss of lives. Many people, who spoke concerning the incident, were of the opinion that a pedestrian bridge should be built in that dangerous spot to stem the tide of further loss of precious lives.
