What is Violence against Women?
“Violence against women means all acts perpetrated against women, which cause or could cause them physical, sexual, psychological and economic harm, including the threat to take such acts; or to undertake the imposition of arbitrary restrictions on or deprivation of fundamental freedoms in private or public life in peace time and during situations of armed conflicts or war.”
What is Domestic Violence?
Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner.
Domestic violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that intimidate, manipulate, humiliate, isolate, frighten, terrorize, coerce, threaten, blame, hurt, injure, or wound someone.
DEFINITION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The Domestic Violence Law defines domestic violence to mean
- Physical abuse
- Sexual abuse exploitation including rape, incest and sexual assault
iii. Starvation
- Emotional, verbal and psychological abuse
- Economic abuse and exploitation
- Denial of basic education
vii. Intimidation
viii. Harassment
- Stalking
- Acid bath or other poisonous attack
- Damage to property
xii. Entering the victim’s residence without consent
xiii. Controlling or abusive behavior that can cause imminent harm to the safety, health and well-being of the victim
xiv. Deprivation.

- Penalty is Jail term or fine of N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) or both

- Your children can be kidnaped, Raped or killed by moving vehicles. Do pot expose them to DANGER
- Every child has the right to survival, protection, development and participation.
- Basic Education is free and compulsory in Lagos State. Take advantage of it for the eradication of poverty and hunger.
