Free health programme, book launch receives commendation

since he took over as the head, the current Chairman of IKODASS, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, former Clerk, Lagos State House of Assembly, displayed his clout and exposure in the on-going IKODASS celebration.

Right from the start of the celebration on Saturday, November 11, 2017, he brought innovations not only to Woro Group but also to the Merit Award and the free medical checkup.

Unlike in the past twenty six (26) years when the IKODASS festival started, Mr. Olusegun Abiru brought in different strategies and innovations to the 7-day program. Last November 13, 2017, when the free medical check-up came up for the first time, the IKODASS Group not only organized it in Ikorodu but through-out the division.

The people of the communities had the opportunity to check their health status as it relates to cancer and also their blood levels and diabetes. It was an opportunity for them to have private discussions with doctors to find out their health status and get relevant advice. The unprecedented crowd at various centres surprised the Chairman, who saw them discussing eagerly with doctors on the cancer scourge ways to prevent the disease. He promised that this kind of program would be on yearly basis and appealed to the media houses to help propagate it.

Those who benefitted from the free medical check-up did not fail to express their joy for such life-saving program. Mrs. Titilayo Iwera, who resides at Ladega, Ikorodu, expressed her joy for the medical check-up and stated that the test was okay. In her words, “I give thanks to IKODASS for the free medical check-up given to us. We were advised to always eat early and check our body regularly.

Another resident, Akintunde Modupeola, told Oriwu Sun how she got the information about the free medical check-up and described the exercise as beneficial. She prayed that IKODASS members would never be affected by any incurable disease. She said God would continue to give them more strength to do good deeds.

Another resident of Ikorodu and an executive member of IKODASS, Mr. Folusho Sunday, disclosed that he took part in the cancer test. He said this: “I love the way the program was anchored and I was advised to visit the Doctor for medical check-up regurlarly, at least every six months.”

Alhaja Oladapo Mosunmola, who resides at GRA 2, Ebute, Ikorodu and who also took part in the program, was impressed by the way the medical test was organized. According to her, no drugs was prescribed for her but she was told to come again after two years for another check-up, in which case, she would be given a vaccine for prevention.

In addition to the free medical check-up during the program, an Airtel sim and free airtime were given to the people present.
