Africa’s richest woman, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija yielded to emotions and sobbed bitterly at ceremonies marking the death of her brother, Barrister Adewale Ogbara who died on Saturday September 24, 2016 from asthma a day before he was to move into his house.
The young, amiable, cheerful and brilliant lawyer, according to family sources had been battling with asthma and hopping from hospital to hospital for its treatment.
He was said to have died as he was being conveyed to hospital after the ailment began again. He could not make it to the hospital before he died.
The late pleasant lawyer was married to two wives and had five children. The first wife said to be living in America had four children for the family while a second wife the late lawyer has a son and was living with her late husband in Ikorodu.
Sources told Oriwu Sun that the lawyer who lived in Ikorodu GRA Phase I laboured hard to build a magnificent house which he just completed.
Death cheated the young lawyer who was said to have scheduled the new house warming ceremony on Sunday September 27, 2016 at B.O. Benson Estate, Ibeshe Road and snatched him a day to the event.
We gathered that Wale had a serious attack that Saturday night prompting the wife and family members to rush the man to hospital but he died on the way. Brothers and sisters of the late lawyer many of them abroad were immediately informed and the burial/funeral rites were put together before their arrival.
A service of songs was held for him on Wednesday October 6, 2016 at African Bethel Church with Mrs. Alakija in attendance. The wealthy woman cried for her late brother at the event and drew empathies from other mourners. It was one of the high points of the service to confirm that the old saying that, the rich also cry.
The late lawyer who had lived in Ikorodu for ten or more years was interred on Friday October 7, 2016 at his new Ibeshe Road mansion after a funeral service at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church near Anibaba junction, Ikorodu.
The corpse was also laid-in-state at the family house along Ayangbure Road and Exclusive Club before proceeding to B.O. Benson Estate for interment.
The brilliant lawyer who was the family’s spokesperson after the death of their father and granted Oriwu Sun a massive interview was given a robust and befitting burial/funeral expected of the richest family in Ikorodu for several decades.
Sympathisers came from different walks of life including the legal and judicial professions to pay their last respects this legal luminary.
