The new Elemuren of Emuren town, Otunba Adesegun Bolaji-Alowonle, has stated the need for traditional rulers to rule according to the wishes and dictates of their subjects.
He said this in his acceptance speech shortly after his election as the new monarch of the town.
He said, “Traditional rulers are subjects to the community.
We will work with the people and deliver their message to the government of the day.
My role is to serve the people as I am the servant of the people and I’m ready to work with everybody to move the community forward.”
Bolaji-Alowonle was announced the new king- elect last month following meetings for the selection of a new king by kingmakers.
The Olisa of Emuren, Nosiru Tayo, announced the emergence of Bolaji-Alowonle,
The Oba-elect was among seven candidates nominated by members of the Owuyo Ruling House, whose turn it was to provide the next monarch of the town.
Tayo said, “Four members of the kingmakers in Emuren town unanimously voted for the emergence of the new Elemuren of Emuren and we are grateful for the conclusion of the process which the community had longed for since the death of the former king of the town in 2017.”
