On Sunday April 19, 2020, members of the Eko International Forum based in the United States of America stormed Epe and Igbogbo to distribute palliatives in form of food items to more than three hundred people in the Igbogbo town of Ikorodu Division.
When news reached the town, as early as 1pm more than five hundred people in Igbogbo had assembled in front of Adeboruwa’s palace to receive the food items from the delegates of the Eko International Group. The crowd waited till 3pm when delegates of the benefactor organisation arrived in a bus given to them by the state government. Upon the arrival of the members of the group, the crowd were anxiously waiting to receive their promised relief items.
The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Alaiyeluwa HRM Semiudeen Kasali, received the head of the visiting team, Princess Adebisi Hanstroup from the United States and Mrs. Orimole from Ikorodu. After the usual niceties, the representatives announced their mission to Oba Kasali after which they made their men offloaded the food items for instant sharing to the waiting crowd. The sharing of the food items was cordially organised as ten people came forward to receive their largesse.
In an interview with Princess Hanstroup, leader of the team, they were in Lagos State to help reduce the sufferings of the people caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. She explained that the arrangement is a continuous one as they intend to keep visiting Lagos with support materials even after the pandemic crisis. The Eko International groups have a plan to keep the support to help alleviate the sufferings of people in mentioned places in Lagos. These will include Epe, Lagos Island, Badagry including Igbogbo in Ikorodu Division.
Princess Adebisi Hanstroup told the Oba of Igbogbo that the Eko International Group yearly medical mission team will visit the people of Igbogbo by next year where the people will benefit from the organisation’s free health support system. She prayed for the people of Igbogbo that God will continue to be with them in all their endeavours. She said that it is unfortunate that the entire world is facing a challenging time but that there is hope for humanity.
In response, the Oba Kasali thanked members of the Eko International Group and prayed for them and said it was very thoughtful of them to bring such humanitarian relief to his community. The Oba told Princess Hanstroup that he is looking forward to the Eko International free medical mission in Igbogbo town next year.
