Oriwu Sun Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Hadji Kazim Ganiu-Sanni, has been honoured by Oriwu Central Mosque, Ikorodu, with an outstanding award in recognition of his immense contribution to the construction of the mosque.
The veteran journalist, who is the secretary of the mosque and also the president of its Youth Organization, received the award on Friday, December 27, 2019, at a well-attended award ceremony held within mosque premises as part of the 3-day programme organized to mark the official commission of the newly completed Oriwu Central Mosque.
Hadji Ganiu-Sanni took over the secretaryship position from Alhaji S. A. Lambo in 2007 and afterward joined force with three other members of the mosque to wrestle the construction committee for the mosque from its formal members when the construction activities was allegedly not progressing as expected.
After that, he and other members of the committee put in great efforts in ensuring the judicious use of available resources and monetary donations for the construction of the mosque and this, to a large extend contributed to the recent completion and commissioning of the mosque after thirty one (31) years that the construction took off.
The Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, Sheikh Yahya Olorunosebi Oshoala, while presenting the award to Hadji Kazim Ganiu-Sanni, under scored his outstanding contribution to the construction of the Mosque and its general development when he said Hadji Ganiu-Sanni would have been turbaned as a Chief of the Mosque if only his secretaryship position is a turbaned one.
At the event to support him in receiving the award were his two beautiful wives, children, younger sister, Mrs. Kafilat Sanni-Awojide, family members, club members, friends and well-wishers.
