Dr. Taiwo Hasan, a prince from Ebute-Ipakodo who was the former deputy medical director of General Hospital, Ikorodu, has been confirmed the substantive Medical Director of the Hospital after a brief spell at the Mainland Hospital as Medical Director.
Dr. Hassan, while he was in General Hospital, Ikorodu, for years as deputy medical director, was well loved by many patients and staff, not only in Ikorodu but beyond the division for his hard work, humility and his willingness to help patients who had contact with him.
When he was moved to Ebute Metta years back, the entire staff in Ikorodu General Hospital were particularly not happy about his posting out of the place. However, both the staff, patients and the entire Ikorodu community continued to pray for him to return for his good works while he was at the Ikorodu General Hospital.
As God would please, the people’s wish was granted when the Lagos State Health Service Commission reposted Dr. Hassan again to General Hospital, Ikorodu, on June 11, 2020, as the substantive medical director to replace Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Odubiyi who retired on June 12, 2020.
Within few weeks of Dr. (Mrs.) Odubiyi’s posting to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, as the Medical Director, she turned the hospital around by building a strong staff-management relationship and endeared herself to the patients and staff.
While at the Ijede General Hospital, the staff petitioned the Health Commission Board that Dr. (Mrs.) Odubiyi should not be deployed to General Hospital, Ikorodu. But for the legitimate age of sixty, she would have stayed longer in the service because she was well loved by the staff within few months, she won the hearts of the staff in her new post and garnered overwhelming support.
According to sources, Dr. Taiwo Hassan resumed the General Hospital, Ikorodu, on June, 11, 2020, to perform the handing over formalities while he would officially resume to duty the following week. The news of Dr. Hassan as the new Medical Director brought joy to the community people as the traditional rulers, staff, patients, social clubs and other stakeholders celebrated his appointment. They wished and prayed that during his time as the MD, he will build and sustain stronger ties with the staff, patients and the community.
In an interview with the Oriwu Sun, Dr. Taiwo Hassan said his first target is to help Governor Sanwo-Olu to achieve his goals in health delivery resolution in Lagos State. He promised not to disappoint the hospital authorities, the Health Management Board (HMB) and the Permanent Secretary who gave him the opportunity to serve. He also promised to have a better working relationship with the community and staff of Ikorodu General Hospital.
