Retired Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Works, and incumbent President of the Prestigious Oriwu Club in Ikorodu, Engr. Kayode Anibaba and his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Titi Anibaba, also a retired Permanent Secretary in Lagos State Ministry of Environment, fulfilled their parental obligation to their son, Israel Afolabi Anibaba, when they led the young man, on July 28, 2018, to take a wife in holy matrimony.
The two retired Permanent Secretaries, who are so amiable, are great socialites as well as highly connected; hence, both are popular personalities in the State. To many people, Mrs. Anibaba is not only very humble but also very kind while Engr. Anibaba, in addition to earlier attributes, is an influential son of Ikorodu Division. Dr. (Mrs.) Anibaba is a sister to the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, which automatically makes her husband the Governor’s in-law.T
The Anibabas, by nuptial relationship, fused with the Abayomi Odutayo and Barr. Omolara Alakija families for the sake of the latter’s beautiful daughter, Anuoluwapo, who their son was set to wed on this day. It was no wonder the two mega families involved harvested the top echelon of the society to grace their children’s wedding ceremony. Everyone expected a mega wedding and a mega party, but in their usual way, the Anibaba couple organized a modest but classy wedding for their son. The church and the reception events, which were held at Life Pointe Church, Lekki and Harbour Point, Victoria Island respectively, was attended by Governor Ambode himself.
The wedding attracted a galaxy of the movers and shakers of the State and Nation. Among them were the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, ex Deputy Governors, Sarah Sosan and Femi Pedro, former First Lady of the State, Mrs. Emmuanuela Fashola, ex Works Minister, Seye Ogunlewe, National Assembly gurus, Femi Gbajabiamila and Jimi Benson, former Commissioner, Oniru, among others. Governor Ambode could not make the reception after attending the church service but his wife was fully present. The Governor, who is not used to attending social parties (Owanbe) except corporate ones, left for another official engagement. The uniqueness of the event was the convergence of who-is-who in the State and the fact that it was a classy event, where wealth was prominent. The traditional dignitaries at the event included the Obas of Ikorodu division, led by Oba Kabir Shotobi and his wife.
The cake segment of the reception was supervised by Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, who was flanked by many dignitaries at the wedding reception to cut the cake. Popular comedian, Baby Face, anchored the reception while the Faith Music Band supplied the music. The wedding, which started in the morning, lasted till 8p.m. It was graced by members of Oriwu Club, who came in large numbers to honour their President and his wife. There was no doubt about the quality and class of the wedding, which radiated love, dignity and the beauty of relationships.
